http://www.techradar.com/news/computing ... acs-622626Haven't read all this myself yet, but it's good as a quick synopsis of where the tech seems to be heading in general, if nothing else

Separate upgradeable box and screen would be a nice feature!

The Pro isn't user upgradeable? The only thing I can think of that would be a pain to swap are the processors.

Not really a Mac Pro - I have no need for Xeon CPU's, the consumer i7's are good enough. Consumer i7, 6 RAM slots not 4, choice of GPU's from this century and spare PCI slots!

What do you mean? I don't quite follow. This sounds like the sort of thing I'm after!! The Mac Pro is just far too expensive!!

I have a feeling the majority of people who are using Mac Pros are using ones bought by their business not themselves and the best most people can manage out of their own pocket is a top spec mac mini or decent iMac. Jon

I think that sums it up for most people. This is where the PC wins, in having something in the bottom and middle space (mini and iMac), where the user can specify exactly what they want, not what Apple think they should have. It is really my main critiscism of Apple, apart from their total unreality when it comes to competitive pricing.

Still, it's a pricing strategy that has left them in rude good health.

Ah yes, I'm sure that's true! I've never seen a Mac Pro, except for those on show in stores. I could only dream of being able to afford one!!

I've built 2x core i7 PC's both overclocked to 4GHz, 1 had 12GB RAM & the other had 6GB RAM. I've probably spent about as much as a base model mac pro but have far superior specs & graphics
