Got a 'phone call this morning. Apparently they were really impressed with my skills, and I gave a good interview, but they had stronger candidates. Oh well....

I've just managed to get rid of my boss for two weeks.

He needed to do a course to get our HGV operators licence, so I've booked him on a course down in Taunton for the first two weeks in September.

One of my psu's just exploded!

You didn't do what I did, did you? A few months ago one of my colleagues had the lid off a PC and asked if I could hear some "funny noise" coming from the PSU. I put my ear next to it, just as it went BANG! My ears were ringing for hours

Nope, the machine was off, wouldn't turn back on. Changed the power cable and it went bang.
I think the smoke escaped and needs to be refilled.

When I was working in support in Basingstoke, building services moved my desk, along with the floor based power, network and telephone box, which was sunken into the floor and worked on a rail system. They moved it to the next position, but somehow managed to rotate the box through 90°!

When they plugged my PC back in, there was a 2' blue and orange spark!

I was in complete shock when the postmaster at a town centre Post Office actually gave me a telling off for posting a pre-paid parcel. I'm sorry I thought that was the point of having a Post Office, but they probably prefer car tax renewals and selling insurance.

It turns out they don't get any commission for pre-paid parcels, whereas they get tons by tricking te elderly people into using Special Delivery for their Christmas cards.
