Then you must know that there is a new series by the same people called The Pacific. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0374463/You may already know about the new series, but I'm a huge fan of Band of Brothers so when I found out about it yesterday I was hyper.

Band of Brothers is absolutely fantastic.
I've got the box-set and can't get enough of it.
I didn't know they were making a new series, so I'm really looking forward to it now!

The missus got me the boxset on Blu-ray, it's what I always wanted. I brought it for a mate for his birthday and he said he had a tear in his eye on one episode can't remember which.
If you haven't seen it anyone watch it you will not be disappointed.

Well, if you can watch 'why we fight' without being utterly broken up you're beyond salvation. There are two definitive 'make your friends realise why it's better than DVD' blu-ray sets to have : Band of Brothers and Planet Earth. Jon

Thing is, I've known about it for ages but every time I check up on it, it's still coming. I'm starting to wonder if it's the Starcraft II of the TV world Band of Brothers is up there with The Wire as one of the best TV shows ever made. Anything even remotely as good would be worth watching. Question is, will it ever be the same. I don't know.

Yep, very moving and excellently made. Is Tom Hanks involved in the new one as well? He seems to have made the transition from comedy to serious film making perfectly, everything he seems to touch is golden.

http://www.guardian.co.uk/media/2009/may/21/the-pacific-hbo-sky-band-of-brothersSo, Sky have bought it up and will be showing it on Sky Movies in Spring 2010, not even Sky One, they're gonna make you pay extra for it. Grrrrrr, looks like I'll have a long wait for the box set to be released before I can see it. I hate Sky!! Band of Brothers, though, is fantastic. Must get round to viewing the box set again.

I have BoB on DVD metal box set and I've watched it many times- as well as on TV. It is a truly awesome series and I had a tear in my eye more than once, I don't mind admitting. The thing about this series is that I both care about and have the utmost respect for the characters (unlike some movies) and losing one is almost like losing a friend. Then, when you remember (as if you could forget) that this story is about real people, it hits you again. I also have the book and if you love the series, it is well worth a read as it fills in lots of gaps and things that you might not have known, realised or understood from the series. I have read it three of four times and I am engrossed every time. One of the facts that I really love about the story is the US Army physical training test that Easy Company did. They scored so highly that the examiners thought that they must have cheated (don't ask me how). They did it again and scored even higher. No doubt, one of the finest units of fighting men that there has ever been.

Another unreserved resounding recommendation from me. Although I refuse to watch the episodes singularly. Still, I think I must have done the marathon close-approaching 10 times now. It really is that good. Does that mean you've not seen it/them yet Chris? If so, I really am quite suprised.
