Hello all, I'm on the lookout for a new car, but I really have no idea what to choose. It must have: - Fairly big boot
- High driving position
- Leather seats
- Metallic paint
- Satellite navigation
- Xenon lights
I currently get all of those things on my Nissan Qashqai, but I do fancy a bit of a change. My budget is £19,000 to £21,000 but definitely no higher than that. Any ideas, please? Cheers, Peter.

Focus ST Or a Honda Civic. The CashCow was about as reliable as a women with a couple of drinks in her, so a Honda or the ST will be a welcome break. Or get a top of the line Ford Transit. Big boot in those!

I don't understand? I learnt to drive in a Ford Focus and wasn't that impressed really. I'll certainly have a trip to my Ford garage next week to pick up a few brochures and pretend to be interested! Thanks, Peter.

You drive and presumably want a 4x4. I'll eat my hat if you actually ever take it off-road.

Seat Leon!
The Focus ST has a 5 cylinder Volvo engine from an 850 T5 (once the Highway patrol car of choice!), so completely unlike the relatively gutless other engines in the range, such as the ones you find with L plates on!

It would occasionally be off-road, so I do like the security of a 4x4 system in place, if possible. It also helps in bad weather conditions, such as snow and ice, which is comforting. You dirty little troll That's just one too small for me, to be honest. I do remember sitting in one at the motor show, and it was a gorgeous car, but I do sometimes need a larger boot than that. Thanks everyone, Peter.

I have probably been offroad in my Megane more than the vast majority of Chelsea tractor drivers....yourself probably included Bad conditions such as snow or ice, good to know it is useful once ever 5 or 6 years Why do you need a high driving position? Are you a shortarse with small person syndrome? If not http://www.subaru.co.uk/Subaru_co_uk/Vi ... enuid=M0M5

I do go off-road about once a month, so it is a useful feature to have. I do leave it on 2WD for normal driving to reduce my fuel consumption. Peter.

So you take it through a wooded area with no road/track?

No, I take it over muddy fields. I believe that falls within the strict definition of off-road. I wish! I'll be lucky if I can afford a Ford Ka with this budget at the moment. People keep saying there are deals to be had, but I can't seem to find them. Peter.

Peter, I've just looked on Autotrader and there's 124 Touareg's available in your price range nationally. Surely one of them might be suitable.
