I have some computer-related equipment that is broken and needs to be disposed of. They include a keyboard, mouse, two optical drives, a printer and a few other bits and pieces, all of which do not work and are probably not cost-effective to repair (unless the repair costs £1-2!!!). All are over four years old anyway.

I could easily chuck them in the bin and no-one would batter an eyelid but I'd rather do it properly.

Any ideas? Can't find anything on the city council website.
I vaguely recall something about manufacturers being responsible for recycling who would then pass on the costs involved to the consumer in the way of increased prices.

You can take it to the tip, they have a section for electrical items.

Your local one is most likely Somerford.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/WEEE

Think it might need to have the 'wheelie bin with the X through it' symbol on it to apply though :?
