Check out the religeon thread in the news forum.

It's a storm in a teacup, and if Bish had been around to see some of the bigger spats over in the old place she probably would have been really shocked!!

If this over the religion thread, it's pretty boring and I'm inclined to think it's A typical of religious views. You don't like other peoples ideas of religion and instead of discuss it in a rational manor you ignore all points of views and walk away.

Religion... it's a bit sh*t really, caused a hell of a lot of wars, causes needless death (pope discouraging use of condoms etc) and it's a silly way (for Christianity) spending your Sunday morning in church when you can spend it in bed!

People leave, people come back.

Sometimes life is more important than the interwebs.

Unless there's a 24hr thread, in which case everything must be dropped to spam.

I've just read (and commented) on the Religeon (sic) thread. Not much of it is relevant (hey-ho) but having had a quick squiz through the thread, I find it rather a tame argument compared to the old TMP and consider Bish's reaction a little OTT.

BUT, having said that, if it has hurt her personally- and that's the thing these days, nobody has to be thick-skinned- and regarding some individuals it might be the final straw, so she has chosen to leave.

Personally, having seen one too many of these threads in the old, Dennis world, I just tend to think- sad but "whatever". Especially when that person returns to comment on their "I'm leaving" thread.

I have drifted away from a couple of forums in the past, but the one I left in no uncertain circumstances, I posted and promptly blocked the entire domain with my ISP so as not to receive any e-mail and never, ever went back.

Religion is a funny old thing.

"I have an invisible friend who has told me how you should live your life."

You would not take it from children yet millions happily take it from adults. Strange but true.

Whoaaaaaa how did I miss the religion thread?!

And how did I miss this?

Glad you're not going =)

And don't let religion get to you, it's all perspective anyway.

My dad was jewish, my mum is buddhist, my brother-in-law and sister are muslim, my best school-friend is hindu and i'm a christian.

Whaaaaaaaaaay! >.<

Local drama Queen should learn some manners.

Calling people names just because they have different opinion is childish. I've told you before and I am saying it again: Grow up and learn to deal with people using some diplomacy. You won't get far in life throwing toys out of pram a slamming doors...

I think there's less of a "them and us" attitude here. In the old place before the split, arguments could easily kick off in a kind of territorial fashion.

I guess most of us have been through that, and don't particularly care any more. This place has settled down to a general forum, with a bit less emphasis on the IT side of life, which I find refreshing I have to say.

As I said, perhaps the old place was a little too far the other way. It did however have the pro of being more often frequented by a heated debate than we are here. Don't get me wrong, I still like this place a lot, I just like debating things in order to learn more about other people and life etc.

As a side note, if people want to debate religion, why isn't there a separate thread?

I don't mind that. It's the "and if you don't I will consider you a threat and will thus have to kill you" bit that gets my goat.

I have found people are a lot more tolerant here, there seems to be fewer debates, and those that there are don't seem to last long like the OS flame wars of old...
One other thing I've found is that the community seems to have migrated from being the computer enthusiasts and those who need computing help that brought us together to a community who would rather talk about polotics, religion, photography and multimedia. It may just be me of course...

We talk about mints with holes in them

And BEER. ;)
