I think it looks cheap and nasty, not that the old one is particularly nice.

The 80Gb will be discounted into oblivion IIRC... I don't see any real good reason for dropping the 'Other OS' feature - why take a feature away if you don't have to and it isn't doing any harm? In some ways it's a unique selling point, and it's Sony who has been arguing that every PS SKU has been a 'computer'. For tax purposes I'd have thought, but there you go...

My PS3 with complete with chrome looks 8 million times better than the eggbox elite. The Wii isn't exactly a stunner either.

Mmm. I'm not a fan of the PS3 or the 360 looks wise but I do think the Wii is actually quite a nice piece of design. Very utilitarian. I have a feeling that's contributed a little to it's popularity with the 'non gaming' crowd. As to the 'Other OS' option - the rumour is that it's dropped because it's been used to install Linux and then 'rip' commercial blu-ray disks. That's not the sort of Unixey stuff I get into but I can imagine it would be possible. Jon

^ I was just reading that the PS3 only has a 2x speed drive - no bloody wonder it takes so long to load and install games I could do without Sony making out that removing a feature is so they can concentrate on the system itself

And upon reading that, I *still* own the best console in the world. Original 60GB model FTMFW. My PS3s backwards compatibility with PS2 titles farts in your general direction. Your mother was a hamster, and your father smelled of elderberries!

According to the blu-ray specification 1x is still 36Mbps, so 2x is 72Mbps. A 12x DVD will read slightly faster than a 2x BR, but not much.

It all helps when you're sat in front of it though - it reminds me of loading PC games on a slow system

Shadow Complex 'Splosion Man Braid ... I could go on, but for just downloaded games I think it's clear who has the better games, not to mention developer support from 3rd parties

Really, so how come you haven't mentioned any games on the service? I don't care for a blu ray player, I have a hd-dvd/blu ray combo player in my media centre along with dual tuners for analogue and digital
