Bloody right... and the Crazy Colonel is starting to resemble Bob Dylan in his younger years

Maybe we should as the USA to compensate the IRA victims after all the money they used to buy the guns came in part from the states in the old days when they were happy to support IRA terrorists

You might have an argument there, as the US government knew exactly what the likes of NORAID were up to but allowed it to go ahead. There's issues around how various administrations treated Sinn Fein too...

It's all blame and claim these days.
The IRA don't have any money so they want to sue Libya instead.

You can't blame anyone for the IRA's actions other than the IRA.

How about stop blaming and claiming and simply work on fixing things for today and tomorrow?

Hang on, Libya took responsibility for the Lockerbie bombing and paid out compensation, so why the f*ck shouldn't some of the victims' families want them to admit what they had done and pay for it regarding the IRA (and many other groups)? :?

It's alright saying everybody should move on, but it's up to the individuals caught up in something Gaddafi and his lackeys enabled to choose what to do.

Libya only took responsibility and paid out compensation because they realized without international investment then the country was about to go down the pan and the likely end to the current regime. By paying out some cash and stopping there WMD research they came in from the cold. Simple buisness.

^ I appreciate that, but unwittingly or not, they've created a precedent as far as the IRA's victims are concerned.

The IRA victims will get some compensation from Libiya when hell freezes over, the lion lays down with the lamb and Jobs is discovered to be in a "special" relationship with Gates. As suggested previoussly when are the US funders of NORAID going to pay compensation and before you know it the UK is claiming money from the Italians for the Roman Invasion which destroyed the indiginous culture.
A one of political payment does not make a precident. A history of making these types of payments do. You often find rulings in court with the previso that its not to be used as a precident.

^ I know, that's why I put 'as far as the IRA's victims are concerned' ;)

This isn't just an issue that's cropped up in the last few weeks, this has been an ongoing campaign for years now, and it looks like this will only help them...
