Folding Forum !

I agree. If a lot of us are now moving off CPC to here rather then bit-tech, why not make up our own folding group?

I'd be willing to switch, particularly as they just renamed it the "Custom PC & bit-tech" team. :(

We're going to need a name ^_^

Urm.

1) Why?
2) Yes, and maybe a time limit
3) Yes, some sort of address/telephone system works well for OC3D, maybe a cut down version of it.

Why? Just because some other forums do it and so it may be a good idea, I don't know.

Anyway, a folding forum/team is a great idea.

Depends if it’s an air brick or not, I suppose.

I'm okay with all of that, but would like to propose my bits in bold italic.

If you split PC and Console gaming apart we wont be able to have the "even though your PC is technically better my Xbox is better in every other way" type arguments. I vote for one big multi-platform gaming area.

I quite like that too. My only suggestion or alteration would be that the "Comments" forum could be "News Response" or "In the news" or somesuch, as it's no longer needed to just be for comments on articles on the rest of the site.

I'll also restate my request for a LaTeX plugin at some stage, as although not useful everyday, there's been a fair number of topics that I, and I think Ben as well potentially several others, would have found it useful to help provide a response more clearly.

As another point, does anything need doing outside of the forums? I know they're the main concerns right now, but I guess long term we'll develop from the inside out to include things nearer the perimeter? I was thinking maybe a Service Blog (Slog???) fo Saspro and any other developpers/support team members to use to keep everyone informed of what's going on and what's been planned. The forum is good for users suggesting ideas, and whilst it's good that everyone feels part of the system's development and evolution, especially during these shaken times, long-term I think we do need a dev team to keep the site/forum improving, a mod team for content management, and someone to take charge of the overall direction of the site, and keep it heading in one direction, especially if we do get new members (Our userbase is a bit strange atm, as everyone who has come over here is clearly interested and wanting to do everything they can to keep The Meeting Place (tm) going.

<edit>Another thing I meant to suggest was some sort of flickr-pool, and a gallery page as another page on the "main site" (ie. not within the forums).</edit>

Edd, I like the ide of a LaTeX plug-in, would be helpful to anyone explaining maths problems.

I like the idea of the proposed layout, if everyone is in agreement then I think saspro could make a start when he's got some free time :)

It's a typesetting mark-up language, particularly useful for maths/science. (I'm currently typing up my group deliverables in it. It makes making mathematical formulae (complex or simple) look neat and tidy with minimal effort.

LaTeX, is a mark up language for typesetting documents. Used a lot in scientific papers and for mathematical formulas (think that's spelled wrong..).

I used it loads last year to write up essays and the such, means I didn't have to fiddle about in OpenOffice or Word to get the formatting correct as LaTeX had a template which was very close to what I wanted.

I like the idea of a LaTex plug-in as well, it would make entry much more flexible and ease the transition of the movement :o

On the subject of layout/design/colour schemes etc why don't we hold a competition?

Anyone who is interested could produce a mock-up either in PS or on a dummy forum or something, then the forum community could choose a winner?
