They are pretty good too. Before Apple Stores started springing up, they were the place to go for Apple Hardware, and they knew their stuff too.

Yes they should be able to. If people are going to be enough of a doughnut to buy a PC from PC World, let alone a Mac, then frankly they get what they deserve.

I actually bought mine there - I was buying on credit and the HFC were offering a better rate than Comet/Santander - but I had to tell the PC World staff that they had the laptop I wanted in stock. I made them check the stock room to bring out an MB990 as they still had the old ones on display.

Meanwhile, across the road in Tesco, they are still selling the 2ghz plastic imac's running Tiger...

Trouble is, SL has only just been released and they're not shifting Apple hardware that quickly, so they won't be getting anything with SL pre-loaded for a while.

We're getting a John Lewis here at the end of the month, so that offers a suitable alternative for Apple hardware.

I got mine direct from Apple. Next-day delivery and education discount FTW!

I don't know why everyone doesn't get them online. The lady I spoke to said she was going to PCW because her daughter wanted it there and then but she had to go back to PCW to get it the next day. She would have had it from Apple online store in that time.

Buying online is a pain for me. It takes longer and generally means having to wait for the delivery service to fail to deliver it twice and then arrange to go and pick it up from the depot, which is nearly as far away as the shop...

Buying in the shop costs about the same, but means that I get it on the same day.

With credit purchases, I prefer do it in person - I'd rather not trust Royal Mail with my various forms of ID...

Errr.. there's no reason for TRM to get any form of your ID. These days you if order from the apple shop online they post any documentation to you by email and the boxes are delivered by courier. Royal Fail remain blissfully uninvolved.

Actually these days if you buy from an Apple Shop in person they prefer to email you the receipt as well. Which is why there's always a bloody queue, because it takes people ages to get their email address typed in on those sodding terminals they use.

I am surprised PC World actually sell any Apple kit.

The display stuff is either off or locked down. The machines are dirty and the staff don't have a clue. Their customer satisfaction ratings are amongst the lowest in the business.

That may be so, but given the [LIFTED] PCs that they sell at extortionate prices, the Apple stuff probably looks even more attractive to the prospective buyer.

Tbh it puts Apple on a level playing field with Microsoft in the everlasting war.

They're both being tarnished by being in PC World!

I would never advise anyone to buy from PC world, though go in and try your dirty little fingers on it if there is no alternative locally. Then buy online from Apple, refurb is good, or one of the premium resellers. Take your time and pick what suits you best.
