Didn't I already explain I'm not up on the technicalities? It's HD capable. That's all I care about.

TV ordered, and (dons flak jacket and flame resistant bio-warfare suit) from Dixons online too Basically, Amazon was the only other realistic option, and this way I get it a pound cheaper , possibly get it delivered by Wednesday*, and I get iPoints Could have my PS3 by tomorrow or Tuesday at the latest * Dixons have you pick three different days using the old radio buttons selection method. However, you can't pick the same times on different days Anyway, Wednesday, or Saturday or Sunday at the latest...

Costco are selling the new PS3 Slim for £225 inc VAT! Bargain!
The biggest resolution on my Sky box is 1080i, so obviously it is set to 720p - it looks noticeably worse at 1080i. Currently looking forward to the new series of Ice Road Truckers on HistoryHD! Hurah!

This might be a silly question but... have you got all of your cables? I'm talking about HDMI, etc? I'd hate to have a new TV/PS3/etc and go to connect them only to find that I need to go out and but the bits of string to fit them together... Oh hang on... when we got our last telly, that's exactly what I did have to do! :etc:

Thing is, on a 40" screen, unless you are sitting closer than 5.5 - 6 feet your eye can not resolve the difference between 720 & 1080. True, once you start getting up to 80 - 100" screens at normal living room distance this is going to matter. So, unless you are either: a) sitting VERY close to the screen, b) viewing a HUGE TV c) wearing some weird ass binocular glasses, 1080 is a marketing ploy. Didge

If you can get a 1080p TV for a reasonable price, then why not - it's just as capable of displaying a 720p, but it leaves you room for growth.

The reason I like 1080p is because I'm a purist where possible. Blu-Rays come in 1080p and any TV I watch them on should be able to display them at their native resolution.
Watching 1080p content on a 720p TV when there's an alternative, is like buying a "Fullscreen" version of Star Wars when you can by the widescreen.

i guess it's all down to price, at the SAME price why not. AT a similar price, why not save a few quid? (except for that nagging doubt that the marketeers put there ..) Same argument is buying cars, 2 models of same car, one does 150mph, other will do 180 mph .. plenty of folk will buy the 180mph version just because they can, despite them never getting close to 150 mph. It is, of course, up to you .. your money. I was just pointing out the physics. Didge
