Well...I've been away, and am going away (but not from the forums), here's why....

As most of you know I haven't been feeling great recently, and there's more to it than that, but long story short, the week before last I ended up taking an overdose. I don't want to go into the ins and outs but I did, obviously I was taken and admitted to hospital, and I'm pleased now to say everything is ok. I survived with (I believe) no permanent physical damage. It was a big hit for me and I've had plenty of time to think about what I want to do next and I've made a decision:

I'm migrating to Australia.

Yup. I've had a visa for a while now, but had kinda accepted I was going to let it expire, but I've decided to bite the bullet and use it.

I've quit my job, booked my flight, and I leave on the 2nd October. It's a big decision, and I've done nothing but consider it since I left hospital, but I think it's the right choice, I'm not running away from my problems or anything back home. It'll just be a chance at a new start in life. So off I go...and that's the story to my absence from here, and what's been happening. Hopefully now I'm getting things back on track I'll be around a bit more.

(FWIW if any of you are local enough to come down my way and fancy meeting before I go, let me know as it'd be good to meet some of you before I set off!)

Crikey!

Well, wow. Um, okay, so don't forget to visit when you're settled Down Under.

Not much else to say, really.

Who? Where'd that come from? Do you mean "normality"?

In which case you're completely correct.

Wow, that's quite something, glad you are on the mend.

Where abouts in Australia are you headed? I know Belchingmatt lives out there...

Brisbane is where I'll be based when I arrive, although I may go travelling in the new year if all goes well.

Wondered where you'd been Dave. Really glad you're ok and incredibly impressed that you're living up to your latest tattoo. I PM'd you a while ago, dunno if you got it.

Anyway, I will be in London from Sunday night until the following Saturday morning. If you can make it into town, that'd be cool. In fact, who else is around? Perhaps we could have an impromptu leaving do for Dave and Kieren?

Blimey.

I'm glad to hear you're okay, and good luck with the move down under.

I'm sure everything will work out in the end some-how. :)

I also wish you good luck.

Back when I was 19, I thought my world was over and put myself in hospital. I then realised that if that was how I felt, I really had nothing to lose and I could do anything I wanted. After all, what's the worst that can happen? Sometimes when life gets you down, the best thing you can do is give it a damned good shake.

In the 20 years since I've met some brilliant people and enjoyed some really good moments. I've not done anything amazing, and I've made plenty of mistakes. However, there's still life in me yet and I have good hopes for it.

I hope your trip works out to be interesting, fun, enlightening and anything else you wish for. If you find the time to stop by, we'll still be here hoping for some exciting tales to relieve our boring days!
