red herrings and white elephants by albert jack.
edit: the reason I am reading it is because one of the clients of the place I work at is pretty much a crypt of a church and I get called there to do IT work, I always jazz things up by buying cocolates and sweet teas such as harmoney tea.
One of the women there who is middle aged bought me a book as I always say, No thats a red herring.
Good book, I am enjoying it and recommend it to any one that enjoys understanding where common expressions of the English language orginates from.

I've just finished volume 6 of MPD-Psycho. What with all the multiple personality disorders and weird characters, I am getting a bit confused! Here's hoping it all makes sense later on. I'm enjoying the series, it's well-written and drawn, but it is very violent at times to say the least.

I have finally finished the first Chronicles of Thomas Covenant. It was truly an epic read and I enjoyed (almost) every minute. The book has left me hungry to get onto the next part of the Chronicles because I really just can't see where we'll be going next. It feels like all of the doors have been closed, but there are at least 2 more sets of Chronicles so I'm at a bit of a loss.
In the meantime, I have moved back to "The Diamond Throne" and am re-enjoying Sparhawk and the Elenium. I have read them all before and enjoyed them very much, it's nice to be back.

What 'world' is MPD set in? I'm guessing it's to do with a paranormal division...

MPD is a bit difficult to describe but the plot concerns a detective, Yôsuke Kobayashi, who is hunting a murderer. He eventually tracks down the killer but due to the horrific nature of the crimes he develops Multiple Personality Disorder. From wikipedia: Things become bizarre when a new series of killings start involving victims with barcodes on their left eyes and the narrative involves secret organisations developing personality transfers, etc. It is very convoluted. So it is not paranormal as such, but it is a detective/horror/sci-fi story. The art is good and complements the gruesome story very well. The writer went on to do The Kurosagi Corpse Delivery Service which is more in a comedy horror vein.

As you say, sounds good but complicated I have The Kurosagi Corpse Delivery Service on your recommendation - it's in the 'To be read soon' pile alongside Punisher Year One

First of all, I have to remember to take that SAS book back Secondly, I've just made my way through the Terminator Omnibus 2 graphic novel collection - some brilliant ideas but a bit of a letdown overall, mainly due to one unnecessarily long story

The New Paradigm for Financial Markets by George Soros. It only arrived this morning so cannot make a personal comment yet.

Prince of the Blood, another of Feist's epics.
After reading the Demon War saga again, I've stepped back in the sequence to fill in the gap between the Rift War and Demon War. There are two in the sequence I'm now reading, then I'll be leapfrogging to the next saga.
Oh, it's confusing.

I do the exact same thing with McKiernan, start in the middle with the Hels Crucible duology, then skip forward a couple of sagas to the stand alones like "Black Wolf, Silver Falcon" then go back again to the Dragonstone, it does get confusing, but the entire Mithgar series is like an old friend now so it's not too bad for me to keep up with. That reminds me, the Rift War is another one I've been meaning to re-visit..

I'm trying yet another time to read The Fellowship of the Ring.
I always get about 30 pages in and then get bored - currently on page 72

I got through the whole trilogy. It took ages, and the turgid prose was only intermittently broken by some extremely interesting and involving parts of the story. I'm glad I got through it, but I wish ol' Tolkies has cut it down a little. Now to die by the hand of a literary aficionado

Just coming to the end of Storm from the Shadows by David Weber. One of the spin-offs from the main Honor Harrington series. The next one (Torch of Freedom) is due out next month so I'm looking forward to that.
