Quite possibly. I doubt I'll be home in time to get one before they're all sold out though.

It was a complete mess with various retailers not sticking to the official 2pm release time. Ebuyer seemed to be the only ones who managed to do it (props to them) and Novatech didn't have stock yet so supposedly they're going to do it tomorrow at 2pm. Scan made a right hash of things with their Sales Supervisor confirming that the stock would be released at 2pm only to have the Director change his mind and release the boards early which resulted in him taking a lot of flak on the Hexus forums although he's trying to locate more promotional stock (although it's unlikely). I was one of the lucky ones since after seeing various retailers selling their stock early i did a final check on Scan before i started to make lunch and was greeted with both promotional boards on their site so made a quick order and hopefully have bagged myself a GD80 =]. Problem is that after receiving email confirmation for the order and payment to be taken, i got an email about an hour ago saying that it would be delayed because there was a lack of stock so i'm not sure what's going on there . Supposedly the GD80 boards went in a matter of minutes whilst the GD65 boards lasted about 10-15 minutes before being listed as sold out. Currently just building a list of all the components i now need to get this new build up and running =].

Novatech released their boards today and they didn't last very long, that said i don't think they had much stock either.
According to their forums the boards sold out within the first minute and they still oversold (despite listing it as a new item so the board wouldn't oversell).
However they've also said they'll be honouring all of the completed orders (even the ones who were sold one of the oversold boards) so good customer service by them if they keep their word.

Sent you a pm Geiseric. Basically the Scan forum over at Hexus has an allocation of 20 GD65's available for those able to PM (something like 15 posts i think). Details here.

No worries =]. You manage to receive yours yet? Give us your thoughts when it arrives On a side note, Scan have finally managed to sort out their GD80 customers, the problem being due to the fact that 27 orders were completed but they only had 23 in the batch of promotional stock. Luckily i was one of the earlier ones and my GD80 is set to arrive tomorrow . That is... if Citylink don't manage to screw up lol. EDIT: Just received my GD80 =]

Mine is on route, one small problem.... what should I do with it?
What have you got to go with your's vdbswong?
My current setup is -
Biostar TP45HP 7200 @ 3.17Ghz 4GB DDR6400 ATi 4870
Having never read a single revirew on the i5 yet I'm going to have to do some catching up.....
From memory I'm going to need the i5 and I'm I right in thinking the i5 supports dual channel DDR3? not triple like the i7.

That's right, just dual channel DDR3. When I get round to buying some components and building an i5 rig, it will probably be based around an i5 750 CPU unless the 1156 i7 processors come down quite a bit in price. The 1156 i7s come dangerously close to the realms of the i7 920.

Well, you're at least more up to date than me lol. I've currently got: DFI Lanparty NF4 SLI-D Opteron 165 @ 2.7GHz 4GB DDR400 ATi X1950 Pro AKA a skt939 system with a two generation old graphics card lol . Anyhow, i'm currently looking into getting an i5 750 which is about £145 now but i'm kinda waiting for it to drop to about £130ish. On the graphics card front i want to wait until September 23rd-ish for when hopefully the new ATi HD5xxx series launches (looks very promising, DX11 DiRT 2 with playable framerates at a six-monitor setup 7xxx by 3200 ).[ clicky 1][[url=http://www.anandtech.com/video/showdoc.aspx?i=3635]clicky 2]] If not just for the extra price cuts on the HD4870 or news on Nvidia's next generation of cards. You're right in that it supports Dual Channel DDR3, also it needs to be 1.65v or less which eliminates quite a few of the overclocked DDR3 modules designed for AM3 systems. However manufacturers are releasing more low voltage, high speed DDR3 in the current timespan. As for a processor the i5 750 is a good choice since it's like a i7 920 without the hyperthreading and usually gives similar results in benchmarks for £50 less. The other choice at the moment is the i7 860 (yeah, they named it an i7 on skt1156 as well ) which costs around i7 920 prices but usually performs slightly better due to the 2.6GHz clockspeed. If you're looking for something in a similar vein to your current one, Intel are going to be releasing the i3 series which are dual core versions of either the i5's or skt1156 i7's. I know that for the same price as the i5 750 you should be getting a 2.93GHz dual core with hyperthreading although i'm not sure when it's supposed to be released.

Unfortunately not . Still waiting for the i5 750 to go down in priced. It launched at £150 but it's slowly making it's way down to £140 at the moment. Hopefully it'll drop to £135 but i'm tempted to buy one soon-ish. On a related note, it's a pain that DDR3 has risen back up in price, i remember when you could get some alright 4GB 1,333MHz kits for £50 whilst now they're about £60-70 . How about you ?
