http://www.bit-tech.net/news/gaming/200 ... t/1?tcs=nlI can understand why they'd want to force the issue, but it was gonna be all or nothing, and it doesn't seem to have worked out - makes you wonder how many 'sub-standard'' games appeared that otherwise might have been better

So nothing to do with the GPU on the 360 not being able to hack it and causing a red-ringed hardware failure then??? I have my doubts!

I'd rather play a 576p game that is double buffered and has proper anti aliasing/af than a 720p game that can stutter Resolution is good and all.... but anti aliasing/af can be really helpful for faking a quality resolution and making the image look better

I've heard the new dirt game has 4xAA and 4xmulti-sampling whereas the *cough* superior PS3 cant manage the same.

But at least there is some hope that the PS3 will still be working by the time you've finished the game! ClickyIt allegedly drops to 2xAA on the PS3, but it looks the same to me.

So called native 1080p is pretty much bollox on both consoles. I've even see tech info on some games supposed to be 1080p native but switch/lower the res as required to keep up the frame rate going. And I dont want to get into a my dick - sorry, console - is better than yours contest but here's a couple of extracts from http://forum.beyond3d.com/showthread.php?t=46241: PS Batman: Arkham Asylum = 1280x720 (no AA) 360 Batman: Arkham Asylum = 1280x720 (2xAA)PS Bioshock = 680p (no AA, blur filter) 360 Bioshock = 1280x720 (no AA) PS Fallout 3 = 1280x720 (no AA) 360 Fallout 3 = 1280x720 (4xAA, certain edges)PS Grand Theft Auto IV = 1152x640 (no AA) 360 Grand Theft Auto IV = 1280x720 (2xAA)PS Race Driver: GRID = 1280x720 (2xAA) 360 Race Driver: GRID = 1280x720 (4xAA)I actually dont care. Not only do I think you'd be hard pushed to tell the difference (especially the difference between 720v1080) but I like and want the PS3 as much as the 360. I'm not a fanboy exclusive to one brand. I do find it laughable when PS3 owners try to make a claim in the superiority stakes.

And then when you compare the blu-ray stats, oh...wait...
Sony's main competition is the PS2 frankly, it's easily the greatest console this planet has ever seen.

Blu-Ray is a nice addition. But if you have no interest in buying bluray films then its pointless. If it was a choice between running games on nicer settings or having bluray, well, as a games console the former is more important. Not that it'll stop me buying a PS3 slim when Gran Turismo comes out........

STFU fanboys. Everyone knows that the PC is the best platform full-stop. Name another platform where you can play on a game, watch porn and type up a CV all at the same time? :lol EDIT: BTW, both consoles use a upscaling/downscaling chip for the resolution, so XBOX HAS NO 1080P!!!111!!! arguments are pointless anyway. The PS3 outputs at say 1152x864, then the upscaling chip simply stretches this to 1080p. The Xbox 360 one does exactly the same thing, except it hasn't got support for 1080p yet. Not that this matters to most people tbh. Most people still use an analog TV with the composite adaptor. Even on the PS3 it comes standard with a composite lead. So there. STFU, GTFO and PC is best. Oh and Xbox is the best console. Especially when it's DVDROM drive has been flashed.

Res Evil 5 box (first one I picked up) shows 720p/1080i/ 1080pMy Xbox connected to my TV via VGA has option to select 1080p When connecting my Xbox the TV detects the resolution as 1920x1080 How does the 360 then not support 1080p? Edit: copied from Xbox.com "Enter a world of vibrant characters, compelling stories and fun game play. All our games are available in HD 1080p and multi-channel surround sound"
