You know, Caz, you are an awful name-dropper.

Yeah Caz, stop name dropping! I'm sure that Pat Rice the ex-Arsenal right back, who I used to stop and say hello to on the way to school in the morning would agree with me. He used to work in the green grocers by the way, and this was in the days when some footballers, even Division one players used to have "real jobs" as well as playing football on Saturdays

It's sometimes good to get things off your chest. Sadly, all we can do is offer moral support and hope things work out. Still, it is sad when a loved one goes downhill rapidly. A close friend is going through much the same, and it's hard to go and see her now when I remember when she was lively and getting into all kinds of stuff not so long ago. She's a good decade younger than your Gran, too.

It's horrible to watch elderly loved ones deteriorate. My step father passed away a couple of years ago. He was very nearly 86. He'd been active all his life as he was a professional ballroom dancer and didn't smoke or drink and was never ill. He had a stroke one morning and died the next day.
I think to pass away quickly like that is much kinder. He wouldn've hated being bed bound and dependent on others. To quote the film they shoot horses dont they. Well done to the docs that help people travel to Switzerland to end their suffering. Shame we can't be more humane here.
Alex we put my grandmother in a home and it was incredibly hard but she got the best possible care. She never lost the sparkle in her eye and was still eyeing up the guys even on her death bed!
You know where I am if you want to chat.
Caz

I'm fine, thank you. We've been expecting it for some time, so it's not exactly a shock. Still, it's a little upsetting when it finally arrives. We're not going to be involved in any funeral arrangements. Dee didn't have any family to speak of, so her best friend of many years will be dealing with all that. Hopefully it won't be too long to wait.
