How would someone actually go about compiling a list like this?
As difficult as it would be, I think it would be fairly easy if you applied some simple logic to it - so rather than try and be clever about the delicate nuances of cinematic genius - simply write out films you've seen as they come to your head - placing them as you do in a respective order of the last - "which do I prefer..." would then create a pattern of movies, across all genres, and you'd be well on your way....

Or, just refer to the IMDB scoring history that you've built up over the past 4 years :)

IMDB Top 250

and I pretty much agree (especially with 12 Angry Men - great film)

Yip, that's a pretty good list from my POV :)

This list sucks.

There's no Pulp Fiction on it, and no Scarface or any of the Star Wars films. :(

(I'm sick of typing in caps for ages on my wireless keyboard with no caps key indicator light :x :x :x ) My fave film of all time would be T2, but there's no denying Shawshank is a classic for many, so it's bound to turn up in such lists :)

I think that's still my favourite film of all time, and I've seen it a few times now. Leon would be a close call. It's just such a damned cool film.

I'd rather watch something I've never seen before, but there are very few films that I've ever found that entertaining. I like my entertainment to be entertaining. Intellectual films that challenge your accepted views are also good, but I can't actually remember any.

I should probably go back and read the rest of this thread now

I think The Usual Suspects is also superb (but only the first time you watch it)

That list is much better, though not perfect. At least Das Boot was on that one.
