They used to do a much stronger value bitter, in addition to the gnat's. I think it was about 90p and over 4%, and surprisingly it wasn't that unpleasant. It had more glucose syrup and less malt than is right, but still tasted better than any lager. I think I have a photo of me drinking a can of it in a field somewhere.

Sadly it's no longer available, so I just add Draino to the gnat's.

Ah, a few years ago I remember seeing yobs with large bottles of this. These days, I believe White Lightning is actually among the more "upmarket" of the chemical-based toxic waste (cider) available, with cheaper equivalents like "White Star" now available in Lidl/Aldi.

Before we go tarnishing all cider with the same brush, can we please make a distinction between bloody awful "white cider" and crap perry (I'm looking at you Lambrini) and proper cider.

I am not much of a cider drinker. I do like the decent stuff though it is not much drink of choice. White Lightening and the other high strength ciders are the drink of choice for alcoholics, as you get a high alcohol content very cheaply. These are the drinks that should be targeted.
