Very funny....and a little depressing! "Think of it as a foot in the door." "Are you going to do it in Microsoft Word?" etc

We're actually at the point of telling clients to eff off when they trot that kind of stuff out.
We have a new client. They're precision engineers with all the CNC stuff. Gave us a brief for the new logo. Clean, simple, recognisable, like the Nike swoosh, that kind of thing. So we cooked up some ideas for them. We made a point of rejecting all the cliched engineering stuff like compasses, targets, drill bits, micrometers. Obviously, because they wanted to be different and memorable.
They didn't like our designs. Guess what they suggested we should consider?
Yep. Compasses, targets, drill bits, micrometers.
It's seriously making me consider hanging up my mouse and graphics tablet. After all, they can do it all in Microsoft Word, so why do they need an experienced and expensive designer?

After all that, they then end on 'If you can type, you can make movies.'
*facepalm*

I did find that quite ironic too.

Perhaps it's meant to be ironic.
*shrug*

That all sounds rather familiar. See my request in the wanted section Actually, it's a fairly effective advert for people like me who want to make movies by typing. The voice is a little robotic, but no one here seems to have found that detracting. Obviously you could dub it, although the choice of avatars is quite limited: http://www.xtranormal.com/*wanders off planning his next movie*

Very, very funny. And not restricted to graphic design either.
The number of times I've been on the end of "do science to it and give me the results in five minutes".

Another one: The Vendor Client relationship - in real world situations. I particularly like the ending.... Clicky
