Yeah, I had a friend in school with that set, and it was particularly sweet.

I had one of these sets: It was the best because it was the first Lego set I bought myself. I saved up most of my Christmas present money and my birthday present money to buy it.

I remember Snowy's set racing it's way around a display case in a Belfast store, with some of the other Space sets 'flying' round on wires above it

I think I ended up with 100+ different sets over the years. Initially, lots of standard block, and a few houses. Then everything from the Pirate ships and islands (and the "gold" coins, they were brilliant!) the Knights castles (at least 4), the fire and police stations, a container ship and dock, several large model trucks, a helicopter, various space alien type stuff, large Lego Technic trucks and cars with working engine pistons, gearboxes and differential gears No, I didn't have a lot of friends when I was 14...

Indeed, LEGO makes an ideal friend substitute. I had that very set (truck and helicopter) until 5 years ago, when I had to downsize brutally

We just had a big box full of random bits. Used to spend days building stuff of my own design. I think that is much more fulfilling than buying a pre-designed set with instructions...

I cant remember how old I was when I had it. It must have been late 80's or very early 90's. There's on on eBay. I'd be tempted myself if it wasnt so expensive. The 'alternate' model for this set is pretty cool too, even better maybe?

I think that set would have been from the early 90s veato, as I recall seeing it around... Love the alternate build too!

Legoland is great. I've been there twice in the last few years. And, NOTE... Their lego toy prices are NOT inflated. I have seen them the same price in many major retailers and even seen some of them dearer on the high street. I wouldn't say that I had one special lego kit, but if I had the room and could justify the expenditure, I would have this. Star Destroyer

Er, OK, I wasn't being strictly serious I just couldn't justify the cost of getting there at the moment, so it makes little difference

And I wasn't being nasty. I only emphasised that their prices are good, in case some didn't believe it. The only thing that is ridiculously priced are the Lego figure keyrings. £3.50 for each one iirc, that's £7.00 for two figures- and you can get a small kit with two figures for that much- with chains on their heads. Still, if you want to buy the Star Wars keyrings and remove the chains, it's a damn sight cheaper than trying to buy figures on ebay.
