It'd be worth getting it sorted out for the future though - you know what it's like, 'they've charged me a couple of quid as an interest charge, must phone them'... And of course you never do, and they're still taking your money six months later I know far too many people who get hit for charges that shouldn't be there for it to be a coincidence; I'm convinced the banks and credit card companies know full well most people will just let them get away with it/don't have the time or inclination to follow it up

I know it's only £3.75, but it's £3.75 that I never agreed to pay and certainly should not owe. Maybe I'm a bit strange, but I will ensure that I receive the money back, even if it costs me more to pursue it! Peter.

How do you recycle a God?
My Ganesh was given to me by my ex when we separated, and she'd kept him for a while before we met. He's carved from a single block of soap stone, which is quite fragile and he's suffered some serious injuries.
Since Diwali is coming soon, I thought it would be nice to have a deity with the correct number of appendages. However, that leaves me with the tricky question of what to do with the imperfect one? Since he's easily angered and rather jealous, I'm not keen on the idea of sticking him in a box in the loft, or worse still just throwing him out. Perhaps a charity would be suitable, or should I see if my ex will take him back?

Is it your birthday then? If so, Happy Birthday! Aren't you in your twenties or something? That's not old!

There are a number of options, my choice would be to behead the statue, in a replay of Ganesha's creation by Shiva, and keep the head as homage to Vishnu. This would then enable you to get and consecrate another Ganesha as a nod to your new beginnings (new job etc) and a reminder of the obstacles that you need to get past in the future. The best way for me has been to give the item back to it's element. Find out what element the item represents and give it back. I'm not sure if Ganesh is represented by (or represents) a particular element, from the look of the iconography and his association with the colour red I'd reckon fire but the Muladhara chakra is representative of earth, so how about burning him in the barbeque and then burying him in the garden? Just make sure you do it with respect.
