As far as I am aware, Classic has never worked on Intel Macs.

Yes but when I switched the Intels were not out. The PPC macs were able to run classic.

I think the point is SL only runs on Intel macs, so there is not and likely never will be a version of classic for it. I have seen some 'old Mac' emulators that would run on intel though- probably just not very quickly.

As for snow leopard I am making sure that all my apps are SL compatible before I upgrade. Then I will do the switch over.

I've changed from 10.3 to 10.4 now I have my G4.

It's actually faster under 4 than it is under 3! And now I have a graphics card to suit the Mac (A PC Radeon 9500 Pro flashed with a Mac BIOS) it's a really fast and nice machine. The difference between swapping the ATI Rage out for the 9500 is surprising too. It's even faster now. I wonder if its because it's taken the QuartzGL rendering off the CPU and put it on the GPU.

Either way I like my mac :D

:) Just why I'm still getting by on my old DP G4.
Not saying I don't want an 8 core Pro, but right now, I can still manage to provide video footage for the zoo and edit my photos with what I've got.

Dual processor...mmmm :D

Was it you who I talked to about overclocking these? If it is, you seemed to be pretty knowledgeable. I have another question for you :)

This is a Sawtooth G4. I think they only did up to a 500mhz version. Can I buy a processor from like a later model, like a Quicksilver, and put it in there? I'd just like a little boost in speed, so I could go to Leopard and enjoy the eye candy :)

Cheers!

Can I get another 2 votes for Snow Leopard?

The two machines for my girlfriend's daughters are both on SL - although bought this week with 10.5.6 and 10.5.7 installed (mini and 13" MBP).
