Still, if you want to buy the Star Wars keyrings and remove the chains, it's a damn sight cheaper than trying to buy figures on ebay. :D

Still on the keyring...

I lusted after that set for ages. Unfortunately, I personally deemed myself too old for lego by the age of 11. Especially since I'd graduated to Meccano at the age of 9.

We just had a big box full of random bits. Used to spend days building stuff of my own design. I think that is much more fulfilling than buying a pre-designed set with instructions...

+1.

I read a detailed description of that first one and it does infact have an engine with moving parts. I'm sure thats the one he had.

The latest one still has the working pistons too! You can really see how they've changed over the years too.

I know!!! Its an off-roader rather than a race car but has some cool features like LED headlights and motorised suspension. I'd love it but the missus wouldnt be best pleased with me spending £100 on Lego!

This is the first Lego Technical set I had:

I believe it was the first Technical set in the country. It looks dreadfully primitive in relation to what is available now, but it was an amazing thing to behold at the time. You had cogs, pulleys. It was an eye opener.
