Another win for the Almighty Doller and another nail in the coffin of the Olympic ideal.

Personally I think 7s is a great game to have at the olympics, if we are to expand it out to team-sports. Golf less so.

Golf's not a sport it is a pastime just like darts or snooker.

Then cant we introduce drinking and fighting we could do quite well at that, unless the other team are made up of cross dressing cage fighters.

Football isn't a sport either, it's just a fashion parade for taste-deficient metrosexual jackdaw's.
Quite why Rugby was left out for so long I don't know.

Go down the Hackney marshes of a Sunday morning and tell some of the people playing there that's what they are, I dare you . 7s rugby is genuinely one of the most fun sports I ever took part in. And I was good at it to - I was in a team that won cups and stuff. Bloody tiring though. The 7s has been in the commonwealth games for a while so I suppose they've taken a lead from that. However I do have to say that the protest against Golf being in it (and that was used against Tennis and Football) that the Olympics is not the pinnacle event in the sport holds for 7s as well. There is a 7s world cup already and I'm not sure if you asked the players which they'd rather win. Jon

only one slight problem with rugby 7's at the Olympics. We don't have a British 7's team. The home countries all have their own teams.

Its ok, we can just do it like the Lions - 3 Welsh, 3 Irish and a token English.

Well, I could. But they may chase after me, they may fall over...someone will need to be on hand to comfort them - they tend to get quite tearful.

Forgetting the Scots there, and they would have to be Northern Irish I think 7's would make a much more interesting game, as regular union can be a little stale where as 7's is faster paced and generally a more exciting game Maybe they think the All Black's/Aussie's/Springbok's need more gold medals

Actually, the nations that dominate 15s rugby don't usually win at 7's. The best 7's nations are generally from polynesia somewhere. Samoa were the Brazil of 7's for years and years. Jon

So gold for Samoa then. I expect we will get knocked out at the first stage.
