I'm no fan of blame and claim, but is that all she got? That'll cripple her job prospects for life, not to mention her personal life.

Yeah, it's rather low!! I would be rather annoyed with that tbh!
But, I have to ask, why not smash the plaster? Okay, you may break her hand, but which is better? No fingers, or your hand in a cast for 6 months?

Is there not a risk that her skin would come off with it? They don't remove burnt clothes for a similar reason IIRC.

I'm not up with all this, but what temperature does skin melt? As in, enough to stick to the plaster, article said temps were up to 60*C, whilst being hot, I'm not sure that's hot enough to melt the skin.

I'm really not up on appropriate treatment for burns, I know there's a few medical bods on here so I'll let them comment. All I know is that hospitals and paramedics remove burnt clothing with a great degree of caution and I assume something similar would apply here.

Yeah, I understand clothing becoming attached to the skin, but even if smashing the plaster, so as to allow for the heat to escape, surely that would have been a batter course of action?

Did you click on the Continue link and see the photo? Bloody Hell. £19,000 is not enough for that kind of thing and to someone of school age too!

Yes but I would imagine that it was reduced because of her actions. Self inflicted wounds do not pay well. Though the school should have warned the pupils so that is probably why they settled.
