The latest JJ Abrams offering and so far so good!
Anyone else watching it?!
The premise is that everyone in the world blacks out for 2 minutes 17 seconds and after waking up (and dealing with the resultant catastrophes - crashed cars, planes, etc...) they begin to realise that during "the black out" they all saw a vision of themselves in 6 months time (at exactly the same time 11pm PST around the world).
The main character is an FBI agent and his flash forward was of him investigating the cause of the black out and so he starts his investigation of the cause of the black out.
It's very cool so far but I can't help feeling that he is only saying things are important because he saw them in his vision but he only saw them in his vision because he is now saying they are important and writing them down so he sees them in the vi... you get the picture.
Anyway, anyone else watching?!

I was gonna watch it, then I thought it would inevitably disappear up it's own arse, so I didn't bother

Yep! It's rather awesome.
Charlie from LOST is in Flashforward, I like Charlie well good actor.
I'm quite addicted to Fringe too, JJ Abrams does that aswell.
Need to Finish off Supernatural before I get addicted to something else...

I'll have to make the effort to watch it, my mate and his missus were singing it's praises last night.

I still have the second half of season 4 to watch. A mate of mine has been watching season 5 and he is raving about it.

Season 5 episode 5 is what I am on at the moment. Can't wait to get the next episode! Seriously though, you need to watch the 2nd half of the 4th season. It's brilliant. If you think it's fooked up now, wait until season 5!!

I've only seen the premier so far and whilst it shows promise, I fear Ernie may be right. Lost faltered mid-series, but has been in recovery for a while now. However, I distinctly remember the premier being far more of an event than this.
Fringe is the same, blinding opener and draws you in right the way to the end of the first season. Having just seen the second season premier, it continues at a pace. I fear this may have "ABC tentpole" written all over it, rather than just plain awesome TV. That said, I will watch the next couple and then report back.
Supernatural is a great show, but an entirely different proposition to a JJ show and a direct comparison isn't really appropriate IMO. I haven't started season 5 yet, but I'm expecting a lot and I'm confident it will be delivered. A direct comparison could be made between Supernatural and Smallville, given they are stable-mates at the CW and chase the same demo. Last night I watched the season 9 premier and absolutely loved it. The quality has continually improved in the past couple years and this is now one of my favourite shows, about one of my favourite literary characters ever.
Does anyone else think that Flash Forward runs the risk of jumping the shark early? Or are you all blinded by excitement?

I was gripped by the opening episode of Flash Forward, but the second episode wasn't as good I thought - towards the end of the third episode I found my mind was starting to wander (maybe I have a short attention span or somat?). I'll give it a couple more episodes, but I fear it's heading the same way as Lost for me - lots of promise but ultimately no f***ing answers! I'm gonna give it til week 5 or 6 and if things don't improve I'll probably stop watching.
That my problem with these 20-odd part series that the Americans love producing so much. With the exception of 24 (which is always great), I've never found one that can keep my interest for the full length of episodes. Many of them would be so much better if they kept it to 12 episodes and keep the story more concise. Having said that, I could happily watch Jack Bauer running around for weeks on end, even if there was no story!
BTW: Is anybody else finding that since the Freeview digital retune a week or so ago, Five is constantly pixelating - it was noticeably bad in Flash Forward the other night, which is another reason why my interest waned probably. Only seems to affect Five, which was fine before the digital retune at the end of September. Strange.

I also like Supernatural and season 5 is good so far.
With Flash Forward I can't help thinking that they are only doing things because they've seen stuff in the vision and ultimately it will come true because they are allowing the vision to control what they are doing in the present.

I saw previews for flash forward but didn't bother watching it because - as has been mentioned above - it looked like it was going to be like Lost (is that still going?). I don't bother with these 24 part series anymore and just catch them on DVD if reviews are good.

Same here. I do hope that it doesn't drag out for seven or eight series though, as I'm sure it would get "a bit boring" Let's hope it's two or three series long. Tell the story then finish without flogging the proverbial dead horse.
