Advice please folks! . . .
I've been working at my current job for one whole week, it's ok, pretty easy tbh but fairly laid back too. Thing is it's only contracting so I've been looking for something a bit more perminent. Today I got a phonecall from a company asking me to come in for an interview for a full time job this week...
Do I attend? I'll lose a days wages if I do...
Do I accept if they offer me? I mean, it'll be ideal because it's closer to the city and perm, full time, but it doesn't show much commitment does it, working somewhere for a week then [LIFTED] off!
Plus if I do accept and hate it, then I'll feel like I've been greedy, and I probably wont be able to go back to my contracting agency ?
Help!

If you are temping, does the agency know you are looking for a full time job?
If the job is full time and permanent, I'd go for the interview, you have nothing to lose.
If you get offered the job, make sure you work out some notice with the temp agency, so they can arrange for a replacement. That shows both sides some commitment. Be honest with the agency, if you are, they may take you back if the full time job doesn't work out.

Before offering any advice, the question I'd ask is how long is the contract?
Don't underestimate the value of a good reputation with the agencies. You may need them one day.
This is from personal experience. I still get calls from people I worked from years ago, asking if there's any chance I'll be available at some stage, because I have made such a good impression with clients over the years.

These guys are on it. As a recruitment consultant running temps, I always understood that people were looking for more perm stuff. I never forgot a good worker though and frequently offered them more stuff down the road if they asked. Be sensitive and honest whilst looking after number 1. Definitely go for the interview though. Good luck!

Cheers for the advice and info guys. The current contract runs until the end of January 2010. So only 3 and a bit months. Think I'm going to go to the interview Thursday, then if I do get offered it, tell my contracting agency that it was a call from a job I'd applied to prior and that I really need something full time as I'm looking at apartments. (Which is the truth) Fingers crossed. Other news: Got my first viewing on an apartment in the city on Wednesday, it's a share, but fingers crossed for that too.
