At this point, Griffin probably only has to remain calm to come out of this smelling of roses...

Yup - he’ll just have to turn on the charm, not say anything controversial, and he’ll look perfectly normal.

You have to remember that there will be maniacs in the crowd - both supporters and ant-Fascists. I do no envy Dimbleby’s job on Thursday, though his skills as a chairman are well honed.

I must remember to watch it  - though I'm not sure I can hack how embarrassing the audience will inevitably be when it comes to Griffin

I just don't understand the fuss about this, we live in a democracy and we have free speace and the BNP are a registered political party, they should appear on question time. They have asmuch right as anyone else.

The VAST majority of the population (and as such the audience and guests on Q'time) will reject Griffins oppinions and he will most likely be made to look like a fool, so what does it matter if he is on the show.

I'm not a labour supporter but I want to see labour on Q'time.
I'm not a con supporter but I want to see the cons on Q'time.
I'm not a lib dem supporter but I want to see the lib dems on Q'time.
I'm not a BNP supporter but I want to see the BNP on Q'time.
I'm not a green supporter but I want to see the greens on Q'time.
etc
etc
etc

One must also remember that Hain was a "a prominent anti-apartheid activist before becoming an MP". Assuming any of his pre-New Labour morals are still intact, he must be desperate to make sure the BNP aren't given air-time. Frankly it's a position I understand.

However, discrimination is always bad, even if it means you can't get racists to shut up.

Actually, since the ruling by the Equalities commission, the BNP are in something of a dubious place, as Nick Griffin has to get the party to accept a new constitution with some significant (for them) changes. If he doesn't manage that, I believe they will no longer be considered a political party.

I will be out that night but could be back in time to watch. I doubt that there will be many BNP supporters there. They will be keeping a low profile. The problem will be if the anti-Fascists overreact. Having been on a number of such marches in the past the only problem was the police. Most protesters were very peaceful.
