Give it time, I had to wait a very long time, and go through an awful lot to get to where I am now on the relationship/life front. :)

Oh, I'm not in a rush! I'm not sure I'm cut out to be in that kind of situation anyway, but I guess people change and you never know.

I just liked the idea of the sleeping routine. Sounds delightful. Well that and the counselling session :)

Well, you can have a routine without a partner, and counselling only needs another person of like mind so you can sit and put the world to rights over a drink of a Friday evening. If you ever get to a Silli Plaice meet-up we do "counselling" very well and for hours at a time

Dunno when I last slept 'properly'; if I'm not distracting myself, I'm the distraction by thinking too much

It's not sleep that really affects me day to day, it's the mood I'm in and the people around me, I find...

I tend to sleep 7-8 hours a night. If I don't get enough over several days without a catchup period, my immune system takes a hit. Five hours per night is enough for me to start coming down with something. Things like coordination also start to go out the window.

Strangely, twice a year, my sleep pattern will be abnormal. At one point, I will 'oversleep' for a week, sleeping something like twelve hours and at another point I will sleep for less than six hours per night.

Does anyone else find that changes in weather affect their sleeping pattern? I'm more tired when there's been a change in the weather.

Hmm, sleeping pattern... It is currently shifting from "normal" 2230-0745 to something like 0230-0845, which is becoming a hassle.

I blame the girlfriend, she has officially the stangest sleeping pattern ever. It varies, but most commonly it approximates to 2230-~0100, 0230-0430, then about 0530-0730... :? :?:

I've always said I have two problems with bed – getting into it and getting out of it.

That's a pretty good description! When I was a kid, I used to get up when I woke up. Then one morning when I was about 13, I realised that bed was far nicer than the outside world and I've never been able to get up since.

On Sunday night I went to bed about 5:30am (which I guess was already Monday morning for the likes of Zippy) and was up at 7:45am, which is far less sleep than I want but happened because I'd slept a a fair bit the night before. Last night I think I went to bed just after 2am and up at 7:45am, which is probably about the norm for a weekday.

I do try to get to bed before 1am, but it never seems to happen. I call it "momentum". Time just seems to vanish, and even if I was falling asleep at tea time I'll be wide awake by 10pm.

I am like that, I get very busy in the late hours and invariable go to bed around 3 or 4 am when I have finished everything.

About eight hours a night at home, more like nine when I'm at work.

Depends on how busy I am really.

I'm preparing for a late night doing a load of work and emailing a load of people because I can't rely on anyone else to do it. Should get me in bed by about 4am, which'll give me 3 hours sleep before i'm up for uni. And it's another late night as my society is doing a social and i've got to be there seeing as i'm in charge of it.

But then again I can happily spend 12 hours in bed without noticing. All a question of scale really.

I'm not the same person if I don't get 10 hours sleep. However, I only get that if I have the following day off.

Normally I subsist on 5/6 hours, and I am always tired the next day. The tiredness normally builds up and I'll sleep a cool 12 hours on my first night/day off.

So given the variety of patterns on here, is anyone happy with the amount they're getting, or could we all do with some more?

On the whole, I'm pretty happy with my sleeping patterns. I sometimes get a bit behind and have to go to bed early during the week to catch up, but otherwise I never get really behind and since I manage to drive my commute every day without falling asleep behind the wheel, so I assume my body is quite happy with my routine as well.

I don't remember the last time I got a "proper" nights sleep... One day, maybe.
