Windows 7 is awful imo.

Just installed it. It's slower than vista, the interface is terrible, older apps don't work, driver support is rubbish, and did I mention just how slow it is?

Sadly, it won't let me upgrade back to Vista, because it didn't ask me wether I wanted to archive my old OS. :(

What are you trying to run it on?

Has been running flawlessly for me for weeks.

Running it on my usual PC (3.4 Pentium D, 4gb RAM and a 9600GT). I upgraded from Vista HP to 7 HP because I couldn't be bothered to back up, and I don't have a HDD big enough to put my stuff on. It's laggy as hell, and I've already had to repair it about 5 times.

For once Vista looks like a viable upgrade!

You upgraded an OS instead of a fresh install? you could have created a temp partition and put your data on there

Always do a clean install, always

It wasn't viable for me to do that, as I have a 640gb HDD and most of this are films, music and (admittedly) torrents that I don't want to get rid of.

Having said that, when I updated my old Pentium 2 machine from Windows 98 to ME, it seemed loads faster. :/

I have just booked flights to Florence, 2 people are going and then travelling internally to Bosnia to visit a factory. I gave the completed travel packs to the people travelling and got the response "Oh, can you just sort out a day return flight into Bosnia on the 12th November?"

I checked out the flight options, 6 hours each way to fly from Florence to Sarajevo and it'll cost a total of £740 :o

So, that's a no.

Then they've suggested perhaps they should fly to Bosnia direct instead of Florence, but that means losing the money we've spent on the flights to Florence, and spending an additional £400 on flights to Bosnia  Grr this is what makes me so mad about peoples attitudes towards travel. They arrange a trip with an office (in this case Florence) and don't think the entire plant through, expecting me to be able to mind-read what they want/need. It ends up wasting money, my money, and making more work for me.

Add to that, my desk companion is in a foul mood today, it's my fault because I can't magic more time into my bosses calendar, but its getting on my t!ts

How much would it cost to buy a new hard drive? They're not that expensive, and the newer drive would probably be even faster than your existing one...

Well, I'm going to a computer fair on Sunday, so I'm going to have a look there, as I also want a laptop HDD caddy (The hdd from my broken laptop might make a useful usb drive for school. 3d modelling takes up loads of space)

Although this drive is a WD Caviar Blue, and it's one of the quick drives in the range. Not the quickest by any mark, but it's still faster than my old 2x160gb RAID 0 array.

Which I had to split when my dads HDD became toasty in his PC. :(

Thanks for the offer, but if it was that easy, I'd be going

Got a 'phone call from my youngest brother earlier. They, (he and his wife) went for the scan earlier on today and it's a boy, due some time in February or March. That'll be 4 boys and 1 girl. :)

It Ain't Rocket Science: Like the man says: People talk about the joy of sex, but it don't last nothin' like shootin' anvils

<deletia>

Wilkinson herds the crowd to a spot about 50 feet from the loaded anvils and delivers a well-rehearsed introduction. "It'll be loud, but ya won't hardly remember that 'cause there'll be so much else goin' on," he says. "There'll be a slight second of fear after that anvil goes shootin' up and starts comin' back down. It'll look like it's going to land on top of you. It won't. Unless you hear me yell, 'Run!' Then you might wanna move.

"Now, some of you might be wonderin'," he continues, "'Why in the heck we would want to do somethin' like this?'"

"Because we can?" guesses a middle-aged man sporting a camouflage baseball cap.

"That's exactly right!" Wilkinson says with a mischievous smile. "It's a whole lot of fun! People talk about the joy of sex, but it don't last nothin' like shootin' anvils."

Eventually it's time for the show. Wilkinson lights a long fuse that he has threaded into the gunpowder chamber through a tiny hole bored into the side of the base anvil. He scrambles away, nearly stumbling as he backpedals.

The hushed onlookers plug their ears with their fingertips. Time seems to slow down as the fuse hisses and disappears inside the anvil. Thirty seconds elapse. Just when it feels like it might be a dud...

KABOOM!

I've just uninstalled Ubuntu from my desktop

I liked it, and it works well, but I mostly use my PC for computer games. After realising over a week had gone by without looking at ubuntu I decided there was little point in having it.

It was fun whilst it lasted, but it didn't last long ;) "It's not you, it's me" - *clicks on "format" *
