As long as it doesn't come anywhere near my computer I'll be happy.

This is the worst thing that anyone could ever do to a computer of any description.

I'd rather pay twice the amount and have no ads.

Or, rather amusingly, pay nothing at all...

Darn, and I was about to buy a 27" iMac

It would stop me upgrading to a new version, unless there was an ad-free version.

Adverts just don't work. They are annoying and distracting and make me want to buy a product less, not more.

The same applies to me. If you are spending a fortune on a new machine the very last thing you want is an ad driven OS. I will tolerate emails notifying me of new products and offers but not through everything I do.

Ain't.
Gonna.
Happen.

Really. Think about the control Apple like to have over their OS. I honestly can't see them letting 'partybingo.com' or 'dell.com' showing ads via their OS.
This is, I think, one of the silly season patents that get filed, with no intention of it seeing the light of day.

Well, if they did this, I'd be reaching straight for a linux or FreeBSD disc, but it would be foolhardy for Apple to introduce it at this point in time. It is not as if a full version of OSX is expensive, at least not compared to Vista and SP3.

Maybe they are trying to get a patent in there before Google or MS get the chance with the sole purpose of parking the idea. We can hope.

That would make much more sense. People are actually willing to pay for OSX each time, that will evaporate with an ad sponsored version of the OS.
