They have a right to free speech, as does everyone else, as long as it is within the law, ie no hate speeches. The green movement grew up because the main parties were not dealing with the issues that were important to greens. The same applies to UKIP and the BNP. The government and the opposition need to incorporate some ideas which will steal the BNP's thunder. The fact that Labour actively wanted mass immigration will probably harm them even more at the next general election. Immigration is a problem even if people accept the benefits.

I'm afraid in this case, it is. The laws of the land say the BNP is a political party with a certain level of representation in the voting population and therefore media are required to give them a certain degree of exposure. I'm fairly sure for example we'll see a BNP PPB at the next general election. Whether you like it or not.

Implying my argument is no better than Hitler? 1:0 on the Godwins law front.

Actually no, I was thinking more of the post-WWII eastern block mob. They were very much into direct political control of the media. As quite a few of the African dictators of recent years. So that means you brought Hitler into it, actually.

They have had PPBs for a long time. So did the National Front. If you field a certain number of candidates, you get the right to air time.

You know Griffin didn't come over as the monster that I expected, his views were not as extreme as t'internet and the media would have had me believe before.

I wouldn't go so far as to say that Question Time has made me a supporter, but I don't completely disapprove of their policies now that i'm more educated about them.

This is slightly worrying, as i'm one of the people he's likely to want to deport!

Meh. The major political parties have got to be blamed for the state of the country, not some racist nut. What he wants to do is his own agenda, and the media spotlight on him is really detracting from the issues that are really affecting the country at the moment. I've never once heard of politicians sitting down with people and asking them exactly what they WANT to happen to the country, rather they do what they THINK the people want. Very hard to get perspective from their relatively cushy position.

Woah, you don't think he lied through his teeth to make his policies seem more reasonable? What he said on TV bore no correlation to the [LIFTED] his organisation print.

It was more the fact that he was being calm and reasonable about what he was saying, rather than everyone else in the room shouting and swearing. I expected him to be swearing at any ethnic minority, but this wasn't the case.

Also reading what some newspapers printed today was just a joke. Phrases taken out of context and some stuff completely made up (the sun) bordered on libellous.

Can't we just ignore the racist nut and make sure our "real" political parties do the job they're meant to be doing properly? Or do we have to (as a nation) use this one man as a scapegoat to detract the media from the real problems we have.

The main parties do have focus groups which seem to be made up of the target group that they want to attract at the next election. They take their core electorate for granted. New Labour went after the middle classes who have very different objectives from the working class. Unless Labour recapture their core again they will lose them to the BNP.

Griffin is playing a very cunning game here. He’s attempting to make the BNP appear more mainstream. He’s put on a suit, and is using his Cambridge education. The BNP are far more insidious than he is making out. His continued denial of quotes attributed to him (even those recorded and available on YouTube) and the attempts to weedle out of accusations of him consorting with high-ranking members of the Ku Klux Klan serve to illustrate his real beliefs. He is a white supremacist who would happily load every single foreigner into cattle trucks and cart them out of the country post haste.

Just to be absolutely sure. Here is a picture of Nick at a National Front march.

The National Front were not some kind of youth club in the 1970’s. They were a depressingly vile, skin-head rich mob. There were a few times when they held marches near where I lived. The BNP splintered off from this lot, and Griffin went with the group.

Do not ever be taken in by the likes of him.

Can you imagine the terror that could be caused if the BNP ever got into power and ID cards were already in existence? They would have a ready made database of who to deport.

Wow, I knew this would be one of those "gets out of hand over nothing" threads.

Let's all sit down and have a nice warm cup of cocoa, and calm down.

Yes and such a multi purpose gif as well. You can use it for Windows 7 delayed, Nick Griffin visiting you at home, Tony Blair being elected EU president, and so many more.
