hey all

im thinking of getting a new monitor, i currently own a 22" samsung 1680x1050 16:10 but am looking into this

a samsung 23" 2048x1152 16:9

i mainly use it for gaming and image editing so i just wondered if anyone has any experience of this screen or res, most reviews i have found on the internet are very positive

Personally I'd be going for a 24" 1920x1200, you'll appreciate the extra desktop estate.

There's 1 or 2 in the PC Pro A-list.

Go for a 27" iMac, it accepts video in to use it as a monitor and, looking at prices of other monitors with that sort of resolution, you are getting a free quad core PC with it

if it gives me a free copy of photoshop cs4 with it too

How's that work? That's a lower res than the OP's suggestion.

Not vertically it's not.

its still bigger than what i have vertically and horizontally

as i said i use it for gaming a lot so games take advantage of the horizontal space more, but the pixel density will be interesting as its a larger res in a smaller screen, so it should theoretically be very pin sharp

Little tip: if you want to see just how good your screen really is, try going back to a budget 15" CRT. Suddenly your screen will feel wonderful.

Ok it has arrived

had to play with the settings a bit but got em dialed to my liking now, the gradients are spot on no banding preset and colour reproduction is very good, the image quality is pin sharp and very excellent for this price

the ability to rotate the screen vertically for webpage/pdf reading is handy (although u need to put the monitor at max height to do this on the stand), the stand height adjustment is great and tilt ability.

overall with great ergonomics and a stunning screen to go for £190 and of this size you cant really fault it, my only hassle is the touch sensitive buttons; there a bit off a faff to hit sometimes, the feel of a button is always preferred in my books ^^

and... its going back

furthermore test displayed a lot of blur in the image when playing games which pisses me right off compared to my 22" it makes it a joke to play

Oh dear! Did you try it with movies? Same result?

i watched a few clips but it wasnt as noticeable, but i set my old screen up on clone mode and when playing games such as css you'd notice that the textures became blurry when you run past them, and this was not present on my other screen atall, my old screen is quoted at 2ms response and the new one 5ms so im quite puzzled at how this could make such an impact, as it is its not putting smiles on my face and is annoying to play with im just hopeing that they will take it back and refund under the impression its faulty .

my friend let me onto a new monitor that was reviewed in CPC and got 90%

but the whole thing has left me more than pissed off and confused, i cant really afford much more but if i keep buying the same size screens in that price range are they all going to have faults of the same or similar =\
