Very clever. But since when has making the container (i.e. life) smaller, made the contents seem any bigger or better?

Well, you could argue that having a defined and shoter life would make you more inclined to live what you have to the full. I know the family of a prostate cancer victim who would agree, but that doesn't necessarily mean that you're going to be all "happy, clappy" about it, and it certainly doesn't mean that everything will be better, but perhaps concentrating on the life you have would make it seem better.

It's all a matter of perception.

Quite. Apply Plato's Allegory of the Cave. In which case, having seen that contents of the glass were meant for a larger glass and have been relocated, you might be forgiven for being disappointed at the work-around. If however, you never saw the original glass, you believe that the smaller, full glass is the only reality. Ergo - happiness. :)

Sorry Mark, that was a little philosophical there.

The answer to the question is that there is no question to answer.

Last time I thought about this too much I ended up in hospital having just taken an overdose.

There is no answer, and if you think about it too much you will eventually drive yourself insane.

Now I take Vella's opinion, stuff just happens, and you've got no choice but to just get on with it however you choose best.

These days I just make random decisions, things that make me happy now not worrying about the consequences as much as I should or probably once did. But I'm happier for it.

Well, it's a lot like life.
It doesn't make sense, you're not meant to understand it, but hopefully it makes you smile.
