Went to look at TVs yesterday. Ended up with a Panasonic TX-L32GW10W 32" Full HD model, with built in satellite receiver. The test HD freeview channels are amazing, shame they only do a couple of hours of programming again, but they are supposed to be switching them on full time next year.

The TV itself uses 91W max, with the satellite using about another 50W. Given most of the Toshiba, LG, Samsung and Sony models were in the 140-160W range, without the satellite receiver, that sounds reasonable (Grunding were the only other one offering sub 100W TVs, plus a more expensive Toshiba, which used around 130W, but had similar power saving facilities to the Panasonic, which drops consumption to around 70W if the lighting in the room is just right...

If you don't mind me asking big_D, what was the price? Don't think I've ever saw one with a built in satellite receiver over here!

Are they dvb-s or dvb-s2? dvb-s2 is the future standard that will be switched to soon

It has 4 HDMI, 2 SCART, Component and S-Video, plus SD card slot and VGA

Pcernie, I paid 899€, although the RRP is around a grand and I've seen it online for about a hundred less, but I prefer to have a local service point.

Finally got my Hackintosh to work!

I'm running OSX 10.5.9 on here, and I must say it's so much faster than Windows 7. Quartz Extreme is pretty cool, too.

The COD and Cinegraph charts say otherwise

Well, if playing games is your main concern, fine, but for most folk I'd say battery performance and the stuff in the first chart would matter more. Horses for courses. Be interesting to see the scores were OS X available on non-Apple hardware as well.

If you point me towards some benchmarking software, I'll run it on here (3.4ghz Pentium D, 4gb RAM and a 9600GT), then have you got an Intel Mac? Run it on there and see what happens.

I have Halo on here now. It's running with everything maxxed out, and it looks so much better than it did on the PC. Even better than it did on the Xbox!

For me, game playing is like the start-up/shutdown times, they are pretty irrelevant to the general use of a computer. You switch it on once a day, generally...

So now I've ironed out all the little problems I had with the Hackintosh, and now it's working perfectly. I have full 3d acceleration, all my sound system works (including the surround sound ports on my motherboard!), I have Wifi and LAN, and finally all the OSX apps work. In fact, I'm getting to grips with iChat and that iLife thing now.

Only thing I don't like is the Apple keyboard. I'm using my G4's keyboard on this (One of those white ones with the clear perspex back thing) and the @ key is in the wrong place. But this is a UK keyboard. Is this the same for every Mac keyboard, where @ is on the number 2? And " is where the @ sign should be?

But it's really really snappy, and I'm happy with it! Who's up for some Hackintosh vs Mac vs Windows benchmarking?
