Well one of my main rules as a PM in IT is NEVER go live with a project on a Friday. Another is NEVER go live on a bank holiday.

Why ? simple because you can't support it ( easily ) if it goes wrong.

So its late Friday afternoon on a bank holiday weekend and we are awaiting the launch of the new Dennis forums. I wonder if they will risk it ?

I don’t like kicking anything new out the door after Thursday afternoon. If it rolls out today, I’d be surprised.

Totally agree I've had several fairly loud arguments with very senior people on occasion on this topic

On my sys admin training we were told that people higher up would want things that weren't realistic, they guy told us to make up a letter basically saying "On you head be it" and make them sign in before doing anything...

Yup last time I did that it was to a certain gentleman with white hair and black eye brows

As some of you have guessed, the work on the forums is complete, but we've decided to hold off re-opening the forums until Tuesday in case any technical difficulties crop up over the Bank Holiday weekend.
