For my wife's birthday present. It's one of these, it looks about the best I can afford. The annoying thing is I want to play with it and I've got to wait until her birthday. She wanted a laptop, but even second-hand they're quite expensive and I reckon this will be great for using on the sofa while watching telly and that sort of thing. Anyone know any linux distros out there that will play nicely with it? I've heard a lot don't have the right drivers for Netbooks.

From what I've read Ubuntu Remix is meant to be good, but I'd give Windows a chance first.

Thanks for the validation Mark, (that wasn't meant to be sarcastic, even though it probably sounds it) but the second part of my comment still stands.

Yeah, that does look pretty good. Just out of my price range though. I'll have a go with Ubuntu Remix. TBH, the linux would just be a thing to fiddle with for me. She'd want XP on it as that's what she has at work. She moans enough about our home computer being a mac.

Just found a Samsung Netbook for an extra tenner. Would have preferred a better known brand name. Never mind though, specs are the same.

Cancel order, but the Samsung? I'd trust the Samsung more tbh =/ I mean they'll still do the same thing, but when it comes to customer service and warranty etc it's always good to go for a brand that's nice and reliable =)

Out of interest what does she moan about? Yet to find someone who has used macs that dislikes them. My boyfriend used to be very anti-mac but now loves them and he's using an old iBook G4 which isn't the fastest mac on the planet.

Don't tell me that now, it's on my desk waiting to be wrapped! I knew I shouldn't have looked further once I'd made my decision…

Mostly she opens word docs straight from emails then hits save and it hasn't saved what she's done as she never realises she has to save it somewhere else. TBH, she doesn't moan that much as she doesn't use it that much! If she had to actually do much with it, I've no doubt she'd soon prefer it. People just generally don't like what they're not used to I guess!
