Meh. I've not a lot to be positive about. Still, I guess I have a roof over my head, Best Beloved and two cats who love me.

Aw, c'mon - you're being modest. You're going to walk the next election :D

Thinking about going to the Tar Barrels at Ottery St. Mary later tonight. (Google it.)
Only thing holding me back, possibly, is the fact that the village is shut down between 6pm and midnight, meaning I have to get there before 6pm and then can't leave after before midnight. And I've got a day's work ahead of me, which might not finish until 5pm, and it's over an hours drive.
We shall see. I'll stick the cameras in the car anyway.

When I went we simply parked just out side the village, as there is ample parking just outside the closed parts of it...

Ooh that's good to know Jon - any other tips?

Get a program. The barrels are run at various locations and at various times over the night, so it's worth knowing where to go. Start off smaller and get bigger etc.

I would tend to suggest avoiding the ones in the square and going for the ones in the smaller side streets, it's far more atmospheric. There are various stalls selling drinks / food etc, but all the pubs were absolutely rammed when I went, so probably aren't worth the hassle.

Other than that, don't try and run across the bonfire like someone did when the Wench and her family were doing St John there. It's normally about 15m diameter and if you fall over you're going to be in hospital for 6 months. Yes, the guy was drunk ;).

How did you get from primer to 12 Angry Men? Random - and I scrolled. Ace film though. Hard to get anyone to watch it with me as it's black and white so I've only seen it once so far. Did Sky+ it last year but it was sat there so long I deleted it again.

Agreed - ace film. It's in my top ten.

Evening all folks :)

Had a busy day in the medway town of Chatham. My mum unfortunately is in a home(altzheimers) so was clearing out the house.

It's not nice seeing a persons life being reduced to bin bags & boxes :(

Yes, and only a 5 minute delay in Reading. I was there at 09:00, though...

Oh, by the way Chris, I have some shots of Manchester I took at the end of my Lake District trip.
If I dropped you a copy of them (or a link to a gallery of them) would you be able to help me out with captions?
Do you mean as in place names, etc, or witty captions? If it's the former you could drop me a link as well, as I'm sure that Me and Mrs. V. would probably know most of the places between us, (living in Manchester and all...) ;)
Oh well durrrr.
I actually forgot you lived there, and one or two of the images I got I tried to copy what you got in your little Manchester set for Heather.
I'll put them up in a quick gallery and send you the link.
It's just place names that I'm looking for.

Not a good Monday. Just come out of the meeting where they announced redudancies. Between 50-60 people to go in a restructuring and will all be finailised by 18th December.

My role is not affected but I feel for the people that are.

Don't want to be the voice of doom, but I was in a similar situation a few years ago. I though my job was safe, had been told it was safe because I was a vital part of the organisation, and then I was made redundant three months later.

Then again, that employer was a total @rse and couldn't run a bun fight in a bakery.
