Can anyone get any more information on this story?
The only information I can find seems to be a brief statement by Joe Perry saying that he read it on on a website and that if it's so then a replacement will be found.
*shrug*

That's all that I can apparently find as well.
Nobody appears to be sure if he's left the band or not.
Weird.

Well... I did a google search using this "has steven tyler left aerosmith?" without the quotes, and there were lots of "rumoured to"s and "believed to have"s but nothing has been confirmed yet.

Time will tell...

They all seem pretty busy with other projects and Joe Perry hasnt been happy with Tylers input for years. Cant see it lasting forever, its 40 year anniversary next year for starters.

Aerosmith: Split With Tyler Moves Closer

Quote:
A split between Steven Tyler and Aerosmith is moving nearer to becoming a reality.

In an interview with the Las Vegas Sun, Joe Perry says that he believes the singer has quit the band last week: “Steven quit as far as I can tell. I don’t know any more than you do about it. I got off the plane two nights ago. I saw online that Steven said that he was going to leave the band. I don’t know for how long, indefinitely or whatever. Other than that, I don’t know.”

If that turns to be the case, then Perry is determined to carry Aerosmith on – somehow.

“As far as replacing Steve, it’s not just about that, it’s also four guys that play extremely well together, and I’m not going to see that go to waste. I really don’t know what path it’s going to take at this point, but we’ll probably find somebody else that will sing in those spots where we need a singer and then we’ll be able to move the Aerosmith up a notch, move the vibe up a notch.”

There’s bound to be a lot more happening soon. Keep up to date right here.

Ernie, it's been that news all morning. Nothing's apparently changed. Nobody is apparently any the wiser.
It's all a bit cloak and dagger at the moment.
I'm not sure how Aerosmith can go on without Tyler on lead vocals, but then people said the same when AC/DC lost Bon Scott.

I did read part of an interview with Joe Perry where he said that he and Steven had not sat down and written anything in 10 years. Like everyone else here, I have only read rumours and speculation

I like Steven Tyler he is a nice bloke. But Joe Perry is a grade one nob cheese. Many famous guitarists such as Eddie Van Halen and Steve Vai have talked about how they approached him to shake his hand as they had never met before and he snubbed them. The other issue is he is a very poor guitarist and one of those people who is totally overated. Aerosmith are one of those bands that would be nothing without the vocalist, and Aerosmith is nothing without Tyler. Anyone could come in and play Perry's stuff, its simplistic and often crudely executed, he'd have a job knocking out a Coldplay riff.

I know, but there was the whole available text onscreen and the links to sites that would potentially be updated, but unfortunately weren't :(

The guy is in his 60s, surely he's allowed to hang it up at some point?

There isn't a rule that says he is supposed to choke on his own vomit, or die in a plane crash.

I can't imagine Aerosmith continuing without him either.
