Hi All,

I've got a problem with my TomTom. When I switch it on the splash screen appears, but there is an animated bit which indicates that the SD card is not plugged in.

I've tried taking it out and putting it back in again, (You can sig that if you like!) to no avail so...

I put the SD card in an SD card reader on my PC which says that there is 93.5MB of 241MB available. I tried opening the card using Windows Explorer but there are no files showing, even with the show system files/hidden files/etc options selected.

I really am at a loss as to what I can try next.

It's a few years old, so no warranty.

Any ideas? Please?

Thanks in advance,

John.

You should have a backup of the contents on your computer (provided you did the back up using TomTom Home Software). Could you not get a new SD card, back it up onto that and use it instead?

I don't think there is a backup. I'm searching the archive drive now but I'm not too hopeful.

Which version of the TomTom ONE is it?

Also, my card reader had trouble trying to read the SD card until I had flashed the firmware for the cardreader.

It's a TomTom One and the only numbers which may be model numbers are: 4N00.004.2 and N14644

I'm not sure if I'm going to regret this but... Windows offered to scan the SD card and I said yes. Oh well, time will tell.

It's a version 2 and I am making some progress. It now start up but says that there are no maps... I am currently updating the application, and if needs be will try and download the map again. If not from the TomTom site then maybe somewhere else...

I'm offering to upload the contents of my SD memory card (once I've taken off the vital stuff like name/address etc) when I get a chance.

How urgent do you need it? Might not be able to do it overnight but certainly before the weekend.

That'd be fantastic, thanks! I'm Still in discussion with Mrs. V as to whether we're driving to Lincoln this weekend, but the sooner I can get this blasted thing sorted the better.

Thanks again :D

OS maps were invaluable for me and Nick when we were in the Lake District. There was so many GPS black-spots that our iPhones were really only any good for when we were geocaching.

Maps are a non-starter for me. I can even get lost using the sat-nav so a book on the passenger seat ain't gonna be much good.
