Has anyone bought any xmas presents yet? I bought one for my Mum in August lol.

BB and I don't do Christmas presents. By common consent, neither do our respective families. What's the point when we already have everything we want or need?

I think this year will be the last we send any cards out, as well.

Hmm, Saw the first home christmas tree in someones window when I was in the car last night.
This triggered a tiraide of expletives.

Hvaen't got any Christmas presents yet for several reasons:
1 - I'm a man, therefore all Christmas shopping is to be done as close to Christmas as possible and certainly no earlier than mid December.
2 - I have my brothers and fathers birthdays to deal with first.
3 - Then the parents wedding anniversary.

Addmitedly, most of that is just sending a card but my brain refuses to accept that I have to do Christmas shopping until that lot is out of the way first.

I have 5 Christmas trees to assemble in work today.
4 of them are artificial snow covered ones, and they're horrible. Make a mess everywhere, make my skin itch and I suspect when they're assembled they'll be blocking a fire exit until they're moved into their final position.

I believe all Xmas adverts and shop displays etc should be allowed only from 1st Dec to 5th Jan only.

I remember posting something similar in my own thread.

What with Christmas and the hospital I'm finding my flexi is being sapped (8-() I'd much rather just have a week off when I want to catch up on sleep, and not have all the inconvenience associated with it.

Cancel it. It's up to you how you spend your Christmas. Spend the day in bed and eat baked beans on toast :)

There's still the stupid disruption to normal life by means of places closing, public services being suspended, etc. etc.

Lazing about over Xmas FTW!

And I agree with just doing whatever makes you happy - remember, it'll feel like no time at all until you're back in work

I'm looking forward to doing nothing, eating too much and spending some time with family and friends.

Sod the presents, sod the cards, so all the materialistic rubbish. I will not be sucked back in to *let's spend an absolute fortune for one bleedin day when there's lots of better things I could spend the money on*

We usually spend Xmas acting as the baton in some freaky Xmas relay race, so this year we're leaving the country on the 17th December, going to a Muslim country and not coming home until the 6th January next year!!
