White van man/woman an advanced driver - bit of a contradiction that Heather :D

Not really. I let my IAM membership lapse - I never got the full benefits from it, and they've upped the membership sub by a substantial amount. I expressed my displeasure and resigned.

Same here - it was the insurance scam that got me. No extra discount for being an advanced driver from any of the firms I could see. Also the pressure to 'be evaluated' as an instructor by people who had themselves not been evaluated smacked a bit in my group.

In my resignation letter I noted that the IAM seemed to make a lot of noise, yet there seems to be an overall and marked decline in driving standards in the past decade. I felt the organisation's aims were good, but they were somehow missing the bigger picture.

I may not be a paid-up card-carrying IAM member now, but I still practice advanced driving skills. They will never leave me.

I was graciously allowed to retain my certificate, which I thought was nice. Not sure where it is now. :D

Good afternoon one and all.

It was morning when I started trying to get through to Virgin Media Tech Support but time does go by when you're having fun On Hold. I'm only trying to Register my Broadband but no go....and that's since Monday! This dongle thing they gave me is positively racing along at 8.3KB/s so it's not as if I need Broadband.....

Use the extender cable to avoid interference from the computer itself if you haven't already - works a treat ;)

I believe rusty was being incredibly witty in picking up on the errant apostrophe in your prior piece of prose (check that alliteration baby!)

Yeah, I owed them £500 apparently (so did a few other people I know) - at least they don't know about my accounts in Zurich ;)
