So, the wife was in bed before me last night. I gently squeezed under the covers having applied my anti-interruption earplugs and facemask but almost immediately loud snoring eminated from that side of the bed not occupied by me (there were other flavourful emmissions but we won't go into that) After 5 minutes of this snoring I said out loud "Gimme a break" then a full minute later she asks what I said? I replied "nothing" and she went on to quote me - "You said gimme a break, why"?

Now, subsequent discussion apart, how the flipping hell did she know what I said? She was fast asleep and snoring her head off :? How does she do that??? Is it a woman thing???

Confused of Lossiemouth

I once had a conversation with someone that I could see and understand but I was still half asleep so all I could say was nonesense.

I have had (and sometimes still do have) quite coherent conversations with people while I'm asleep, my dad once came into room and we talked at length about a programme he'd been watching on tv just beforehand, he only discovered I was asleep because I suddenly threw in a few comments about a coffee table we didn't own anymore. He thinks it's hilarious, and (luckily) so does my Mister

I reguarly sleep walk/talk/converse. Not as bad as Mum though. She once toasted an entire loaf of bread, then went back to bed. Crazy person.

I once had a full conversation with my sister. She was asleep and I didn't realise.

I'm normally fast asleep and if anyone comes into the room, I'll wake up immediately. But if I'm very tired eg been on night shifts or long shifts and I'm asleep and they come in, I'll still wake but I'm in such a dozy state I can't differentiate between the scene and a dream.

I had that with the purple one once. She was asleep and started talking non-sense, then I genuinely thought she had woken up and was talking to me, but when she really did wake up, she asked what the heck I was babbling on about...

The closest experience I've had to this was on a night shoot, and I apparently held a perfectly cogent conversation while the whole time my head was lolling and I had one eye closed. I have no recollection of this conversation, it was only in the daylight did someone point it out.

And women are completely irrational, on practically every level, given the experiences of the last 24 hours. It appears to start at about 13, and appears to continue right into their 40s.

And the most fundamental piece of irrationality they subscribe to is they all think they're perfectly logical .
