How unsurprising.

Swine flu is psychosomatic anyway, tell people something often enough and they'll believe it, how else do you explain millions of people going to see Transformers 2 and the success of the x factor.#

It's all bull s h i t.

Not had it yourself then, or known anyone who has? I can assure you, it's not a whole lot of fun.

I didn't say people weren't getting ill, and I don't know anyone that's had it, and I work in a company of five hundred people not too mention travel around the country fair bit.

It's unheard of in Prague when you actually talk to people, it i's in the media very slightly as they try to link unexplained deaths to it but no "confirmed" cases.

Well, here you go, you've just met someone who's had it, whose niece had it (and her school was shut as more than 50% of the kids got it) and had it go round work.

There's no denying your logic on Transformers 2 and £X-Factor at least ;)

The school thing is a perfect illustration , one kid's parents think their darling has it, fauntelroy has a few days off, then a few other kids think I'll have a bit of that, and the majority scared of looking uncool decide to get it as well, throw in a bit of parent paranoia as a result of social engineering and bam it becomes a social event, just like filth factor et al.

If you actually stopped for a second, and considered what you're spouting, you might realise what a complete arse you appear to be.
My niece had a raging fever, bodily fluids being ejected from both ends and spent 8 days in bed aching too much to move.
Given that it's a boarding school, there is no parental involvement, just an over subscribed sick bay with staff falling ill to it as well.
The decision to close to the school wasn't taken lightly as it's a major pain in the arse to contact everyone's parents (many of whom aren't resident in the country) and demand that their little cherub be removed from the property until further notice.

Lying sick in bed trying to hold onto your fluids is not a social event for most people. You sir, are a cretin.

I'm not a cretin, I just have a differing opinion, I didn't say people weren't getting ill, I was suggesting that swine flu has been exaggerated or possibly made up.

Then say that, but don't attempt to extrapolate it into some social theory which is clearly [LIFTED].
Otherwise you come across sounding as rational as Mbeki suggesting AIDS isn't real.

Swine flu is just flu of a particular strain. Flu is generally pretty bad if you get a severe form or are already ill.

Tamiflu is just the "preventative". Different to the flu "jab"

It was fairly common knowledge in the industry that tamiflu was losing effectiveness, this may be why the manufacturers gave such a deal on supplying it to the NHS.

The vaccine will give people some symptoms, from nothing to sore arm to mild flu-like. My major beef is i feel it has not been adequately tested. Most health workers I know have turned it down.

I may/may not agree with the sentiment but that made me laugh my ass off.

To be fair I exaggerated my sentiments for dramatic effect, I'm trying to come up with an idea for a spec script for spooks, and I think I've found it.

Ultimately I just found the way the media is handling the whole swine flu thing interesting to say the least, with the exception of celebrity drivel it's the only story other than MPs expenses that absolutely refuses to go away, despite the general public's cynicism. Assuming the media is controlled to some degree this combination of stories is hugely interesting and confusing in the run up to a general election, I like to think I'm fairly media savvy, but this has me stumped.
