Nice And yes, the film could've been a lot better , but the novel was actually decent

Fo=r what it’s worth, I’ve heard more hard core Dredd fans say that Robocop was more a Dredd film that the Stallone outing. Robocop had the right level of dark humour. In his defence, Stallone did insist on using authentic looking Judge uniforms.

I always suspected the studio ruined Dredd, though I'd need to look into it - comedy sidekick, little promotion of the film (that I recall) etc. But you can see a fair bit of work went into it, and I'm guessing some of it was filmed in England going by the presence and looks of some of the actors? I know that sounds weird, but even English bit-part players have more presence than our American cousins usually (also see '89 Batman)

I don’t think that they ever got it. Dredd, a man mountain played by Stallone, who is small. They even made him take his helmet off. To date, Dredd has never been seen without his helmet on. NB - Rebellion are planning anew film. Hopefully they will do it properly this time. They do, after all, own 2000AD.

Judge Dredd was filmed in Britain back when it was financially advantageous to do so. The director, Danny Cannon, is British as were many of the supporting cast including, of course, Ian Dury. I think I've still got the Making Of Judge Dredd book around somewhere....I was very impressed with the look of the film and in particular the Mean Machine.

We can only hope for the best, though the tone of Dredd would be a hard thing to put on-screen I imagine, I think they've had problems with The Punisher in that sense too... Though The Crow worked as a darker-edged type The Danny Cannon Wiki trivia's quite interesting if it's true: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Danny_Cannon#Trivia

The artwork looks promising, and the creative team are sound from what I know of them - I advise anyone reading this to check out 'Jock's' The Losers, about a rogue CIA team. Absolutely brilliant series, probably £5 each delivered with Amazon these days for most of the GNs
