Anyone been there? What is there to do?
I'm heading there for the weekend.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stratford-upon-AvonThe must be other stuff there apart from Shakespeare.

Oh it's quite nice. Trying to think of what to do. Normally I go to see something the RSC is putting on. I'm also normally broke. I could certainly spend hours with the camera.

You could go see Red & Zippy. Not sure if they count as a tourist attraction exactly though

I went to a rave there once. Didn't see much of the town funnily enough.

I took my better half there once and stood outside Shakespeare's house with her. She didn't notice, as she was looking over the other side of the road saying "Oh look, they have a Druckers"..... You ought to go to RSC for a play if you get the chance, it's worth it. There's also a butterfly house on the other side of the river which is pretty cool. Otherwise do the usual tourist tours, they're very comprehensive and great if you're a Shakespeare buff

Oh yes. They have a HUUUUUUUGE snail, I seem to recall. Haven't actually visited there, it was just on the local news.

I live here. So does Zippy. That depends. What do you want to do?

It sorta depends on what you find fun. There's the Fallstaff Museum here: Clicky right next to the Golden Bee ('Spoons) which serves good beer and where we will be having breakfast late on Saturday morning. If you like a nice bit of scenery then you can have a wander down by Bancroft Gardens alongside the Theatre and watch the people boating, there's a Butterfly Farm that we keep meaning to go to: Here or you can wander around the shops, looking at the pretty buildings. There are some quite nice souvenir-type shops nearer the top of town by Shakespeares birthplace, the Nutcracker Christmas shop and there's also a new Santas Grotto and Elves workshop just opened in the Town Square shopping centre. Where are you staying in town? If you give us a clue of the types of things you like to do we might be able to help more, there are some good walks around, if you're bringing a car you could hit Wellesbourne Airfield market, or see if there's anything going on at the Long Marston racetrack.

Oh!! And there's Anne Hathaways Cottage in Shottery (just outside Stratford) here: Clicky and that's quite nice. Unfortunately Mary Ardens farm will be closed over the winter for essential maintenance, really a visit in the spring is best for Mary Ardens Farm anyway.

I went to college at Stratford about 30 years ago. The Green Dragon was a great attraction then
