Reviews "least important factor" to game purchasershttp://www.computerandvideogames.com/ar ... ?id=228202Personally, I usually go the whole hog and read reviews, see if I can pull up a vid on YouTube, see if there's a PSN demo etc. Though if the game's cheap enough (as in dirt cheap) and in a genre I generally like, I usually just buy it So do you just go with your instinct? Go on a friend's recommendations? Regretting buying those Army Men games?

I either download the demo or "acquire" the game then if I like it I buy the game and play it through. I only read reviews on games that I've never really heard of, like Beyond Good and Evil. I read Bit-tech's review on this. Then I went and bought it and really enjoyed it. I think the only time I bought a game based on a good review and it turned out to be crap was NFS Shift. I traded this back in about 4 hours after buying it. Total tripe

I get the Frankenreview from Kotaku
It's a mashup of half a dozen reviews from sites and generally shows the good and bad sides to a game.

I either go by word-of-mouth, demos or "brand".
Example - GTA4, Batman:Arkham Asylum and COD:MW2 I bought immediately. I didn't read reviews to decide or wait for demos or anything. With GTA and COD, I knew what to expect. Batman, I read some of the video reviews but I had already pre-ordered it.
Uncharted 2 is a game I didn't think I would buy. I read reviews which rated them highly but still didn't buy. Then a mate mentioned he had played it and I bought it. Mainly because I was able to ask questions about the style of gameplay. It seemed to be a new kind that I wasn't used to on the PS3.

Handy, I'll keep that in mind, though I won't be buying any games until at least February (AvP if it's as good as it looks) - too many to even test out first of all...

I don't play games nowadays. I think the last game I bought was NFS: Underground. But generally, I bought them after playing them at friends.

I only read the reviews if I'm already interested in the game.

For stuff like Forza 3, GTAIV, Modern Warfare 2 I just buy. There's some games I know will be worth playing. Games I dont know so much about like Arkham Assylum and Borderlands I tend to have a look around on gaming websites to see what they're saying about it.

I subscribe to PCZONE, so I mainly get my reviews off them. Otherwise its wait until the game goes into the 3 for £10 at game So I can be a bit slow on getting new games. My last game I bought was Fantasy General
