It'll be right for a phase change system, the gunk is to stop it shorting out from the build up of condensation from the difference between core temp and ambient temp.

That was posted in /g/, when someone asked if they'd applied their thermal grease right. Obviously it turned into a greentext thread, and then the inevitable motivational was made from it. :)

How's this for random? I went to lock the driveway gates last night, and noticed a movement in the corner of my eye.

I turned around and there, stood between the cars, was a fox! In my garden! I've seen urban foxes before, but this one not only didn't run away it actually walked up to me.

I spent about 15 minutes in the garden just siting with Jeff* and he even let me take some, (albeit crap quality) pictures on my phone camera.

How's that for cool, eh?

Before anyone asks, no I didn't feed him as, whilst I'm not too concerned about the possibility of catching fleas or getting bitten and contracting rabies, I really don't want to start finding the wheelie bin knocked over and the contents strewn all over the garden.

Oh well, there you go. Random indeed.

* Why Jeff? Well... I give my step daughter a lift to work and back most days, (she works evenings and I usually pick her up at about 10:30) and on the way home we usually see a fox in the same place most evenings. I decided that we needed to name the fox and she rejected all of the names I suggested, (Sam, Megan, etc) and said she liked Jeff as in Jeff Da Fox. Now every fox we see is called Jeff. Yes, I do know how sad that sounds! ;) :P

And there's another tiny but terrifying glimpse into the wierd and wonderful mind of John Vella

My first choice of name would've been Basil.

I think that may well have been my first suggestion as well, but I was being a good parent and let her choose the name... big mistake

Though Jeff does kinda grow on you, especially when you remember that I used the "Da" spelling to replace the word "the"... But I'm sure you all picked up on that ;)

HOW SMART IS YOUR RIGHT FOOT?

You have to try this, it takes 2 seconds. It is from an orthopaedic surgeon............
This will confuse your mind and you will keep trying over and over again to see if you can outsmart your foot, but, you can't. It is pre-programmed in your brain!

1. While sitting at your desk in front of your computer, lift your right foot off the floor and make clockwise circles.

2. Now, while doing this, draw the number '6' in the air with your right hand. Your foot will change direction.

I told you so! And there's nothing you can do about it! You and I both know how stupid it is, but before the day is done you are going to try it again, if you've not already done so.

Send it to your friends to frustrate them too.

That's probably because everyone is still doing clockwise circles with their right feet whilst drawing number sixes in the air :P

My left foot pauses, but doesn't change direction.

My right foot goes vertical, then resumes circling.

You can also cheat, start the 6 from the middle and spiral out clockwise. ;)

No they haven't, Trouble and Squeak are at my house, secure in their homes, asleep in their beds. Hamsters of War don't start wreaking havoc until night time.
I thought everyone knew Hamsters are nocturnal??
