Has anyone here seen Wolverine* yet? I haven't, and going on the reviews (every one of them saying it's got big plot holes) I won't either, but I'm just curious about the forumites' opinions on it * It's full title is X-men Origins: Wolverine or something like that, which is a bad start already, and I think they are going for a whole series of films, like Magneto and Prof. X...

Yeh, watched it last night. it was very good. bit on the gory side for a 12A, but still.
although saying that, i watch a movie to enjoy it, i don't analyze the plot and try to pic faults, although i did notice one...

I saw it, and as long as you see it as a new start for the franchise, I think you’ll be OK. It does seem odd. I liked the opening montage.
I have to admit to not being an X-Men aficionado. I do know that they repeat the same Jean Gray Phoenix story arc rather a lot, but that’s as far as my story knowledge goes. So, I am coming into this “fresh” then; any inconsistencies with the comic books will be lost on me.
It was enjoyable. I liked it - Hugh Jackman does the brooding very well.

^ As geeky as I am, I'm more of a DC guy than anything else, and don't know that much about the X-men either That's part of the reason why I enjoyed the first three films* (I know the third often comes in for a slagging), and I wouldn't worry about comics continuity anyway - it'll never happen with these films! * I have to say I enjoyed them, but they just don't stick in my mind as much as they should do, like Blade, Batman etc Oh, and here's as good a place as any to say the Spider-man franchise is dull at best, and I really like the character

Haven't seen it yet find Hugh Jackman's wolverine not quite 'grizzled' enough.
Strangely, the 'wolverine and the x men' cartoon currently running CBBC (I think) appears much closer to X-men 'canon' than the films.

I thought Wolverine was great, saw it last night. The script was very good, there was definitely a sense of humour in the writing, which resulted in a fair few laugh-out-loud moments. Some of Jackman's comments and one-liners were clever and well delivered. The action sequences were well done too.

The script was full of holes, but the rest of what you say is fair comment. If you're a comic geek, you'll be a mix of disappointed at the obvious adjustments from the canon and excited to see so many "less famous" mutants. I loved Gambit, but was disappointed with Deadpool. I enjoyed it, but they've f**** it up big time tbh. I'm not sure this film should have been made in the first place, but if it had to be, it should have been more focussed and less of a mess. That said, plenty of enjoyment to be had and if you like the character, you'll probably have a blast.

I quite enjoyed it tbh. It was the other half who really wanted to see it, but if you liked the other X-men films, then you should enjoy this.

Watched it last night. From a visual/action viewpoint, it was awesome.
What were the plot holes? I'm not a huge X-men fan so not sure what was 'wrong'?

For your consideration: http://www.empireonline.com/reviews/rev ... FID=135356http://www.empireonline.com/empireblog/Post.asp?id=510I have to say that I agree with both (not that I do with Empire much), especially the latter.

Wolverine's Hair ContinuumEdit - also, there's gossip concerning a Deadpool spin off. Hmm.

It's not about anything. The relationship between Sabretooth and Wolverine is overly fabricated. Wade Wilson is absolutely awesome for all of 5 minutes and then disappears for no reason. Powers are changed. The CG is disgusting and the claws look worse than they did in X-Men, 9yrs ago. The climactic fight is rubbish. It's completely unclear where it sits chronologically with the other movies. And worst of all, **SLIGHT SPOILER** the main character forgets the entire thing right at the end. Unfortunately, I wasn't so lucky.

One of my friends went to see Wolverine at the weekend, here is her review: I would go see it on the basis of this review alone

I actually liked this fabrication. It was better than the father/son relationship that it could have been. Wasn't he Project XI? Or at least something resembling Project XI? I liked the powers that he got. Besides, there's speculation that he's coming back in his own movie, which should fill out all the blanks. This I will agree with you. They looked more real in the earlier films. In this one, particularly in the bathroom scene they're far more artificial-looking. Isn't this what's supposed to happen? In X-men 1 & 2, Logan has flashbacks of a past that he can't remember. So at some point during this movie, you know he's gonna get all amnesiac on you. I personally think it could have been better than "adamantium bullets" which comes off as dues ex machina.

**Possible spoilers**
The relationship is a preference thing. I felt it was done to give emphasis where none was required. Wade Wilson should've been allowed to be his awesome self for longer. He rocks for 5 minutes and is never seen again. Include him or don't, but none of this prick-teasing, pseudo-cameo mutant name checking. It ruins the whole thing. As for Weapon XI/Deadpool, they're two distinct characters FFS. To sew Deadpool's mouth shut is ridiculous for a character called the "Merc with a Mouth". If he's Weapon XI - fine. He's lame, but don't infer that it's Wade MK2. If Deadpool gets his own movie, great, but let Marvel make it, not Fox and get Bryan Singer back please. Although I suspect he would respectfully leg it at this point.
Finally, it would've made tons more sense for Logan's memories be either altered by Stryker (as inferred in X2) or lost as a result of the trauma he endured during the Weapon X procedure. Shooting him in the head and expecting us to believe he forgets everything is ridiculous. The flashbacks in X1 and 2 suggested a MUCH more traumatic and involved procedure to "surgically" graft the adamantium to his skeleton. What was shown was stupidly simple and appeared almost painless. What's worse is that Gambit just leaves him and doesn't try to help him remember who he is. Also, why wouldn't any of the kids Stryker was holding recognize him when he arrives at the mansion (Scott Summers anyone?!)
It's a joke of a film and I feel sorry for Hugh Jackman, as he has made an excellent Wolverine and this film does him zero favours. He's never been better than when he was "king of the cage" at the beginning of X-Men.
