of course, this is bearing in mind (as I'm sure you are) that film critique is entirely subjective, and that you're entitled to your opinion

I thought they were pretty good too and not just because of Kate. I particularly liked the black and white opening to Van Helsing which was quite an amusing tribute to the old Universal Horrors of the 30's and 40's. I still have a preference for the Christopher Lee/Peter Cushing films. Good film, though very violent.

Personally, if we're going for all out lust factor, I'd have to say Monica Bellucci in FFC's Dracula. Although I'd have to admit that it was a shockingly bad film. Keanu Reeves? Dear lord. The only 'vampire themed' drama I've seen in ages that I thought was even half decent was 'Ultraviolet' on Channel 4. But hardly anyone watched that so it only managed one series... Jon

Geekette says Twilight came before the books that inspired True Blood. Mark

According to Wiki, the first Sookie Stackhouse book was published in 2001. Twilight was 2005. So it would appear (technically) True Blood came first. Frankly, I know which I watch and which I don't and why. It might have something to do with not being a 13yr old girl.

You don't fancy Robert Pattison then? Can't see what all the fuss is about myself but I'm not a 13 yo girl either.

Indeed, closely followed by Leonor Varela from Blade II I think the most enjoyable vampire film has to be Hong Kong cult classic Mr. Vampire. Hopping vampires FTW!

I liked Underworld, I don't even find Kate that attractive TBH, just a fan of PVC.

The plot is a massive rip off of the Vampire : The Masquerade/Requiem RPG. In fact, now I come to think about it, pretty much the whole thing is. Some nice SFX and a couple of interesting ideas but pretty much derivative as all hell and designed to appeal almost exclusively to 13 year old boys (hence the PVC) as much as Moonlight & etc is designed to appeal to 13 year old girls. I rather prefer my entertainment a touch less... cynical. Jon

Not been exposed to that. I have to disagree on the age at which you find PVC appealing. I like the film, like I say, but then I like my films not to make me think. I need to rest my brain, it's far to overactive as it is.
